Burr Ridge is a small town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,965 at the 2000 census. Burr Ridge is part of the Northwest Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area. Burr Ridge was founded in 1835 by Daniel Burr and his wife Catharine. The original Burr Ridge Post Office was established in 1838. It served as the junction of two stagescoaches that crossed the Des Plaines River near present-day Burr Ridge. The Burr family had a hand in many local civic improvements such as building a schoolhouse and creating a township road system. They also donated land to create what is now the village of Burr Ridge. In 1865, when Illinois became an all-male state, Daniel Burr died unmarried and unmarried children from his first marriage inherited his estate which included Burr Ridge Village and tracts of land east of I-80 on Kankakee Creek. After Daniel's death in 1865, Catharine took over management of their farmstead until her own death in 1889; she bequeathed it to her niece Alice Goodspeed Goodspeed who lived there until her death in 1956). When Alice Goodspeed Goodspeed died without issue, her nephew Edward Mathers succeeded her as head of theGood speeds Housekeeping Corporation (founded 1906) which ran everything from food service to funeral services through out Cook County.(maintained Gilbert Park Cemetery) In 1957 Alice's granddaughter Bertha Goodspeed Schlatter moved into Alice's home after she inherited it from Aunt Bertha’s son(Edward Mathers Schlatter). She continued to live there until her death on October 15th 2009 at age 89 years old.) When sister Bertha passed away three weeks later on October 23rd 2009 at 89 years old., daughter Jeanne Schlatter took over caretaker status for both houses until May 15th 2010 when mother Jeanne passed away at 91 years old.). On May 15th 2010 daughter Jeanne Schlatter announced that she will finish up Mother Jeanne’s final days living arrangements before selling both properties back to their parents according to guardianship arrangement made between daughters Jeanne and Bertha during mother Jeanne’s lifetime decisionتھیماره تفویت

Burr Ridge is an unincorporated community in Putnam County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the east side of Burr Ridge Road, about two miles northeast of the town of Burr Ridge. The community had a post office from 1881 to 1959. The community is named for General George Burrill (1785-1865), who served as military governor and justice of the peace in Putnam County from 1821 to 1830. He was born in Scotland and immigrated to the United States when he was just sixteen years old, settling in what is now Burr Ridge. In 1825, he married Susannah Prentice and took up arms against British troops during the War of 1812. Afterward, he served as brigadier general in the Union army under Ulysses S. Grant and Ulysses S. Grant's general staff. General Burrill died at home near Burr Ridge on December 28, 1865; his wife survived him by several months.
