In response to the demand for firearms by local farmers and hunters, several gunsmiths and rifle dealers began manufacturing their own firearms in the town. over time these businesses grew into what is now known as The Gun Shop Company. In 1924, The Gun Shop Company merged with Eureka Manufacturing Company which had been founded by two brothers named Edward Eureka and Homer Haney. The merger made The Gun Shop Company one of the largest firearms manufacturers in Illinois. Through its years of operation, The Gun Shop has continued to produce quality rifles and handguns for consumers throughout the state of Illinois.
Burbank, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 103,715 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Cook County and one of the five largest cities in Chicago metropolitan area. The name " Burbank" comes from an Indian word meaning "place where they burn corn." The city was founded by John Sutter in 1833 as a fur trade center on the right bank of the Chicago River. The City of Burbank was incorporated on February 17, 1893, following a referendum which approved the ordinance creating it by an 87% vote. On July 1, 1898, Burbank became part of Chicago when its predecessor town merged with that city. On January 1, 1907, all but 2 of Cook County's 15 wards were added to Burbank; this made it one of the ten largest cities in Illinois without wards reserved for certain classes or neighborhoods (the other nine are Chicago, Oak Park-North Shore Drive & Westchester Heights-Manhattan Beach), and also created new municipal districts: North Side District 9 (now Hyde Park), South Side District 10 (now Englewood), West Side District 11 (now Lawndale) and East Side District 12 (now Garfield). On November 3rd 1920 Burbank residents voted to adopt a charter which granted them veto power over all local ordinances not passed by a two thirds majority vote; this effectively nullified any efforts at regulation by City Council members since they could then block any such measure outright with little recourse other than Petitioning Mayor Wicker for Recall or Even greater political retribution should their measure pass overwhelmingly against them during term limits set forth in their charter amendment years earlier!

The first permanent settler in Burbank were two brothers, Levi and Isaac Humphrey, who came overland from Kentucky in 1837. The town was founded on July 24, 1839 by John Payson and his brother-in-law George Stephenson. At its peak in the 1860s it had a population of 5,000 people. By 1900 Burbank had shrunk to 1,500 people but still boasted an impressive library with more than 2 million volumes. In 1912 Burbank became the site of what would become one of America's most famous industrial accidents when a group of men working for the American Telephone Company (ATT) mined coal over an open pit that they never realized was dangerous and exploded creating one of the worst mining disasters in U.S history killing fifty-six workers and injuring hundreds more. Burbank experienced another big change in the early 1920s when it became home to Du Pont’s chemical plant which produced DDT for use as an insecticide and fungicide until it was discontinued in 1977 due to health concerns about its potential side effects on humans and other wildlife
