Buffalo Grove is one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Chicago, with people from all over the world living there. The area that now makes up Buffalo Grove was once part of the village of North Hyde Park. The first white settlers to arrive in what is now Buffalo Grove were Dutch men who built a small farm on land that today includes much of the north side of town. In 1836, Abraham Lincoln and his family moved to this area and started a grocery store on Wabash Avenue. Buffalo Grove became an incorporated municipality in 1904 and has since grown into one of Chicago's most populous neighborhoods. The current elementary school located in northwest corner of town is named after George Hennepin (1795-1860), one of the early pioneers to make Buffalo Grove what it is today. He donated land for what would become North Hyde Park Elementary School and also helped build Central High School which stands today on much of his land near 78th Street and Ashland Avenue. Today, many cultural events take place throughout the year in downtown Buffalo Grove including Taste Of America Festival which takes place every year duringowntown Chicago's "Art Walk" celebration; Pikes Peak Folk Festival taking place annually at Mount Prospect Park; International Indian Fair held each fall at McCormick Place; as well as many more smaller events throughout the year organized by various groups within or outside of Buffalo Grove itself!

Buffalo Grove is a small city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 10,814 at the 2010 census. Buffalo Grove is located on the southern edge of Chicago and is bordered by the cities of Palatine to the north, Downers Grove to the east, Schaumburg to the south, and Englewood to the west. It has a rich history dating back to 1847 when two brothers named John Archbold and William Burch bought land near what is now Buffalo Grove from some Native Americans for $2 per acre. After years of hard work developing their land into an agricultural community—the first in Cook County—the Archbolts were renamed Buffalo Grove residents in 1881. In 1907, BuffaloGroves incorporation as a town was approved by voters; it became effective on November 1 of that year. The city's early growth was based on its location: close to transportation hubs like Midway Airport and Lake Michigan. In addition, Buffalo Grove was one of only a few towns in Cook County that allowed businesses to be built without affecting residential areas. This policy helped give birth to many successful businesses such as Kipling Paper Co., Hahn Chevrolet Inc., Ford Motor Company (now Lincoln) Jeep dealership, Hotel Cleveland (now Quality Inn & Suites), and others that continue today in what was once known as "The Town That Knew How To Grow." When Interstate 90 opened up in 1959 and brought new traffic into town center during rush hour, developers responded with plans for an expanding shopping mall called Plaza North which never cameto fruition due largely to funding cuts by then- Mayor Richard Daley. However, over time Plaza North's shadow has grown larger than ever with several high-end retailers moving into the area such as Macy's (now JCPenney) and Sears (now Sears Holdings). The success of these stores led other developersinterestedin building malls around downtown Buffalo Grove but none materialized until later in the decade when developer Donald Trump purchased former Sunoco station site at State Street and Western Avenue for $135 million – making him one of only three people everto own both a gas station/marketing headquarters/tower within walking distance of downtown Chicago AND an airport! With this acquisition he signaled change coming not just for downtown Chicago but also for suburban neighborhoods across Chicagos western border which were about to experience explosive growth thanks in partto modern air travel! Buffalo Grove is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 2,837 at the 2010 census. Buffalo Grove is located on the southern border of Chicago and is served by the Buffalo Grove School District. The first people to live in what is now Buffalo Grove were Indian hunters who hunted game near what is today Elmhurst Avenue and Western Boulevard. In 1815, John Richardson founded the town of Elmhurst in present-day Elmhurst Township after he purchased land from the Sauk tribe. In 1825, Rochester Neeples arrived in Buffalo Grove and built a home there which still stands today as part of the town's history museum complex. In 1847, Peter Kirschmeyer began farming in what are nowBuffalo Grove and Wicker Park. He became one of America's first successful agricultural entrepreneurs. In 1892, James Fenton established a shoe manufactory in what are now Humboldt Park and Bronzeville Square in Buffalo Grove which later became known as Fenton Plaza. This business allowed for easy access to cheap labor for American manufacturers during the early 20th century when manufacturing was key to many businesses new to America's economy. By 1912, Fenton had expanded his business into other industries including munitions production and boatbuilding before his death in 1926 at age 83 years old. At his death, Niagara Glass Products Corporation was founded as one of several major glass products companies that flourished during World War II due to wartime demand for aluminum produced by those same companies). Niagara Glass Products Corporation would go on to become one of America's largest glassmakers with operations throughout North America until its sale to Japanese company Nippon Glass (now JVC) in 1986). The Erie Canal ran through Buffalo Grove from 1793 until it was abandoned by Congress following an outbreak of yellow fever among Native Americans living along its length; this caused widespread panic among settlers who were worried about potential contagion within their own community should disease spread easily across open waters! The abandonment led some residents - especially men - to start trading goods they produced for cash or goods they could not bring with them back home (i e., "swimming with contraband"). The popularity of swimming across canal locks helped keep canal traffic moving even during times when navigation was difficult or impossible! Buffalo Grove also experienced immense growth due largely to Congregationalist missionaries active throughout much of Cook County beginning around 1830 under the auspicesof Drury’s Evangelical Society whose establishment brought religious education closer to urban populations than ever before while also providing work opportunities for children between ages 6-18 months old !
