In 1840 government surveyor George Putnam surveying for Grand Trunk Railway discovered new land adjacent to what would become today's town; this land was later purchased by Isaac Brockmeyer who donated it to Kingston Township trustees for use as part of their township development program as part of his donation to Kingston Township dated January 1st 1846 which included an area now called Brockmeyer Park Brookfield began as a small village with only 13 residents when it incorporated as a city on December 15th 1955 with a total population of 24759 people
