Bridgeview is a city in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 25,594 at the 2010 census. Bridgeview is located in the Moline–Joliet Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bridgeview is home to the Kane County Correctional Facility and two elementary schools: Northwest Side Elementary School and East Side Elementary School. Bridgeview was founded on November 4, 1853 by Dr. George A. Smith and Mr. John Pritzker as a small farming community on the east side of the Kankakee River near its junction with the Des Plaines River. The name refers to an ancient bridge over which travelers crossed from Kankakee Valley to Marengo Township on their way to Chicago for goods or trade. The first post office was established in 1855; it was called Prairie View after one of its founders, George A. Smith Sr.. In 1865, a school was began in what is now Bridgeview through cooperation between Mrs. Lyman Beecher (later Mrs. Charles Wirth) of Bloomington and Mrs. Sallie Braidwood (later Mrs). It became Northwest Side Elementary School in 1875 and East Side Elementary School in 1903 when both were part of the newly organized Kane County educational district formed from parts of Cook County and McLean County following the opening of Joliette Avenue between Old Joliette Road and Skokie Boulevard.. In 1893, Bridgeview became a town when it incorporated as part of Moline Township; it remained so until 1955 when it became a city under governor James Rauch’s new Community Development Authority policy that gave cities full control over municipal services including education, fire protection, garbage collection, planning regulation authority and zoning authority…. The boundaries for Bridgeview changed several times throughout its history because various developers wanted more than just a small town center without any commercial development potential…. By 2000, onlyNW Side Elementary School remains open while all other schools have been closed due to lack of enrollment or financial problems….. In addition to NW Side Elementary School being closed due to low enrollment numbers there have also been issues with basement flooding (due mainly to heavy rains), roofing replacements/repairing during extreme heat waves etc… Finally after many years struggles MWF USA Properties announced they will be moving out Of State into Springfield Missouri effective March 1st 2021 leaving behind employees who are not able to move out but still maintain property rights

Bridgeview is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 21,382 at the 2010 census. Bridgeview is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is the most populous town in that area. It was once a rural community on the edge of Cook County, but has since become one of its most economically diverse communities. The first settler in what would become Bridgeview was James Mclntyre, who arrived circa 1836. The original village site was near present-day Lawndale and had a few houses and an outhouse. In 1857, John Ahern bought 2 acres (0.81 km²) of land east of present-day BridgeVIEW for $500 from Andrew McNaughtie. In 1865, Michael Hogan purchased 7 acres (2 ha), east of present-day BridgeVIEW from Ahern for $1,000. In 1868–69 George Prentice built a log cabin near what is now the intersection of North Avenue and Wabash Avenue on his farmstead known as Elmwood Grove. That same year Prentice married Caroline Donnelly; they would eventually have six children together before her death in 1889 at age 44 after giving birth to their seventh child while she still lived with her parents. In 1870 Harry Hickey laid down track on Railroad Road between Elgin and Bloomingdale to provide transportation to settlers living near Kankakee Lake northward towards Chicago proper (the "north line"). By 1872 there were over 30 people living at Elmwood Grove; by 1875 it had increased to 100 families with several hundred more residents coming during the next ten years until it reached its peak size of 300 families in 1905 when it merged with nearby Lawndale into one enlarged village called Bridgeview Village proper; however this merger also failed due to opposition by some members of the original Elmwood Grove settlement who desired continued separateness). The first post office in Bridgeview Township opened on July 1st, 1886 under the name "Milwaukee". The current bridge across Kankakee River was completed about two miles south from where Highway 14 crosses it just northeast of downtown Chicago so as not to affect shipping traffic using that channel which then connected Milwaukee with other northwestern ports through Kankakee Harbor including Kenosha Dam etc.; thus bypassing Milwaukee's dependence on riverboats & waterways becoming self reliant (& henceforth 8th Wonderstuff – see link below). Bridgeview Village proper officially ceased operation on November 1st 1905 when all inhabitants thereof merging into nearby Lawndale effective January 1st 1906; however this merger also failed due to opposition by some members of lawndale settlement who desired continued separateness). It should be noted that even though villages were discontinued throughout Cook County after 1911 because they had outlived their usefulness – there are still many buildings located within or around downtown Chicago which date back to these earlier settlements including: courthouse/town hall complex between State Street and Van Buren Street NW (now used as One America Plaza); Methodist church located atop former J&L Grain Elevator building between Michigan Ave & Randolph Rd NW (now occupied by Wexner Center for Medical Research DRK#4(B)); Masonic Lodge #2 located atop former Goudreau Refrigeration Works building at 4226 N Halsted St NW corner Wabash Ave SE (now home to Park Hyatt RegencyChicago IL hotel); school district headquarters building located at 111 S Dearborn St SW currently being used as offices by DuPage County government although plans are underway for its demolition and replacement with a mixed use development comprising new office space & residential units adjacent thereto – all having been financed via various real estate deals dating back prior thereto); old electric plant site west side Of Armour Rd @ Van Buren St NW now occupied by Barack Obama Presidential Library Archives; old Ford dealership adjacentRiverwest Sideotech Inc Plastic Product manufacturing facility formerly belonging to Westinghouse Electric Corporation now occupied by Cadillac Hospitality LLC.)
Bridgeview was founded in 1871 by Lucius W. Bridge and his wife, Margaret. The town was named for the Illinois River which runs through it. The Bridge familyowned a mill in Bridgeview until their death in 1907. They were succeeded by their son, Harry A. Bridge, Jr., who continued the family business until his death in 1951. In 1957, Harry's widow bought the mill from her father-in-law and renamed it Chicago Mills Incorporated. The company produced flour, feed, paper products, and other materials for local businesses until 1987 when it merged with United Aircraft Corporation to become United Mills Incorporated.
