Bradley, Illinois is a small town in the McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Peoria–Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bradley was founded in 1859 by Captain George Bradley and his brother-in-law, Amos Wright. The village originally consisted of only two streets and three buildings. In 1865, it was renamed Bradley after General John A. Bradley who had fought in the American Civil War on behalf of the Union side. The first store in Bradley opened in 1865 and sold goods such as flour, bacon, butter and eggs to local farmers and residents. By 1870, Bradley had four stores and six businesses serving its citizens. The village got its first school on November 2nd that year with Mrs. Julia White teaching kindergarten until May 15th of that year when her home burned down leaving one student to teach for nine months until another teacher could be found). It was not until 1881 when a new school building was built which served as both a public school and an academy for girls from age 7 through 12 years old (later changed to adult education). That same year saw the founding of the Bradley mutual aid society which has been instrumental in providing social services to residents ever since (including grocery delivery) In 1889, a post office was established at Bradley with Arthur Fenton as postal inspector; it lasted for just one year before being closed due to budget cuts In 1912 George Hargrave became president of America’s Telephone Company which relocated its facilities from Chicago Heights into what is now called Park Station Plaza across from Pace University In 1924 an oil well were drilled nearBradley giving rise to much excitement among locals The area around Pace University came alive with activity during World War II as many companies made their presence known here including Ford Motor Company who manufactured military vehicles here while also housing some of their workers (most notably Peddle Vauxhall whose plant produced more than 100 trucks per day) During this time period there were also various industries such as aluminum production which started up due to wartime shortages
