The Bradley Gun Company was founded in 1875 by Captain John C. Bradley, a veteran of the Union army. The company produced artillery and rifle ammunition for use in the American Civil War. After the war, the company became known for its shotguns, which it continued to produce into the 21st century.
Bradley is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is the smallest incorporated municipality in Illinois. The first settlement in Bradley was made on December 5th, 1837 by eight men from York Township, Indiana as part of the Northwest Territory. On October 10th, 1838, a post office called "New Salem" was established at Bradley by Major John Prentice and twelve soldiers under his command; it operated until 1861 when it was changed to "Bradley". In 1839 Anthony J. Smith opened up a store in what is now downtown Bradley and became known as the "Old Store." The first school in village was built on Main Street (now northbound I-95) in 1841 by Mr. Smiths daughter Louisa Ann Ballou; Mrs. Ballou taught school there until her death in 1895 In 1861 an act was passed providing for township organization; this act created five townships within Cook County including Bradley: Adams (northwest corner of town), Archer (southwest corner of town), Batavia (east side of village square), Ford Heights (northwest corner of village square) and La Salle (southwestern corner of village square). On November 3rd 1865 local resident George Hammond donated land to build a public library which opened on May 7th 1966 On July 15th 1969 local resident James Aiken donated land to create what is now Old State Capitol Park which included portions of present day Village Square On January 9th 1991 local resident Leonard Webber donated land east of today's Eisenhower Elementary School along I- 95 to create what is now Old State Capitol Park West Today many people still call Bradley home because its close proximity to Chicago and other major cities while other resources are available such as government services or educational opportunities outside the city limits

Bradley, Illinois is a town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,642 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first people to live in Bradley were the Potawatomi who arrived south of the Illinois River in 1812. They hunted and fished on the river until they were pushed out by the Ojibwe in 1814. In 1836, Bradley was platted as a town by John Pemberton and James Kappelman. The first post office was established in Bradley on November 2, 1836. In 1840, a school was built and named after Dr. George Washington Carver which opened in September of that year. In 1865, Bradley became home to one of two hospitals for Union soldiers during the American Civil War. In 1898, when Bradley merged with neighboring towns Addison and Galesburg to form Carbondale-Bradley Township (later Cook County), it remained an all-white township until 2002 when it began to open its doors to residents of all races through enactment of legislation known as "An Ordinance establishing Minority Participation" (Ordinance #2002-028). During World War II, Bradley served as a major training ground for Army Air Forces pilots located there including Lt./Captain Harry S Truman's squadron No 449th Fighter Group which operated from nearby Wright-Patterson AFB during early 1945 before flying their missions into Japan as part of Operation Tinian also known as "The Death Ray".
Bradley, Illinois was founded in 1836 by three men, Eli Bradley, Nathan P. Goodspeed and John Fenton. The town was named after General David Bradley who died in the Battle of Springfield during the American Civil War.
