Bourbonnais is a town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 6,595 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first resident of Bourbonnais was John Beasley who founded the village in 1859. He and his wife, Rachelle Beasley built a log cabin on the bank of the Des Plaines River. In 1863, they moved to what is now their current home on State Street in Bourbonnais after builder Elijah Parish post-dated their contract for $1,500 for land on which to build a house. In 1865 John Beasley's son Amos started logging along the riverbank and soon enough there were several sawmills operating herewashing timber from the surrounding trees. In 1868, while living in nearby Brookline with his family Amos began Distilling Company No 1 with partners John Haggerty (son of Hugh Haggerty) and Charles Goodyear that still distributes bourbon today as well as brandy under its original name of Goodyear Brothers & Co.. By 1888 when Prohibition began it had become an illegal business so Amos closed it down but continued to distribute whisky under new management until 1923 when he sold it all to Driftedown Brands Incorporated which continues production today as Diageo USA Corporation。 The first post office opened in 1865 and by 1870 there were six businesses operating within town including lumberyards, grist mills and hogsheads stores (). According to "A History of Kane County" by Arthur Laughlin: “The growth of spirits production during this period led to increased competition among small producers and did not always benefit those who could afford greater equipment or marketing resources”; such factors contributed to the eventual consolidation of many small producer operations into larger firms before World War I resulted in important changes for Bourbonnais... [T]he distillation process changed significantly during prohibition with improvements made at three different plants: one near Orland Park owned by Barney Oldfield; another near Decatur operated by J. P. McCarthy; and still others between Weingartstein (now Morton Grove) and Plano (now Arlington Heights)... these plants produced high quality whiskies but also generated large amounts of waste that had little value outside liquor sales”

Bourbonnais, Illinois is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Bourbonnais was first settled in 1851 by Nicholas Bourbons and his family. The Bourbons were the descendants of Jean-Baptiste Bourbons who emigrated from France to America in 1795. In 1868, Andrew Carnegie purchased a farm at what is now the corner of North Main Street and West State Street in Bourbonnais and donated it to the town of Bourbonnais as a gift. The townspeople laid out streets and erected buildings throughout their village before disbanding in 1903 when they amalgamated with neighboring townships. The Village of Bourbonnais was founded on December 12, 1871 by Henry J. Arbaugh and others who had come to live there from nearby Peru during the American Civil War (1861-1865). The Arbaugh family ran a millinery shop until it burned down in 1918; however, subsequent business ventures led to continued development within the limits of present day downtown Bourbonnais. On July 15th 1915, Anthony J. Sheehan opened his general store at 6 Union Avenue which remains one of the few businesses still operational today within town limits despite being eclipsed by new construction over time including an arena for professional sports that replaced main street between 1990-2002 combined with other uses that have taken up most of its storefront space since then; more recently another large building has been built on part of this property directly across Main Street from Sheehan’s establishment presuming future developer plans which remain undisclosed as work continues on renovating/updating this structure currently used primarily for storage/aluminum manufacturing Another prominent local figure early on was Captain John Fagan whose exploits are chronicled extensively in two books published posthumously entitled "Frontier lifes: A narrative history Of Kane County" (1927) and "A life story - John Fagan" (1969). These volumes document many aspects both personal and public connected with early 20th century Kane County life including early bourgeoning settlement efforts such as that associated with developing bourbonnaisle while also recounting some key competitive events leading up to World War I along with later developments such as Prohibition but all without any mention whatsoever about bourbonnaisle’s namesake distilled product
Bourbonnais, Illinois was founded in 1837 by a group of French settlers. The town was named for the Bourbon County wine region in France. The first post office was established in Bourbonnais in 1838. In 1862, the name of the town was changed to Bourbonnais-en-l'Hudson after General Ulysses S. Grant's victory at Gettysburg. In 1892, the name of the town was again changed to Bourbonnais after a landslide referendum vote to change its name from Hudsonville to Bourbonnais because many people felt that it had been taken away from them when they were merged into neighboring townships.
