The first airguns were created in the early 1800s. Firearms manufacturers in the area of Bourbonnais, Illinois, began making firearms using compressed air as a propellant. The first successful rifles and pistols using this technology were made by John Browning and Samuel Colt. By 1876, it was becoming very popular to shoot at targets with airguns. A local rifle club was formed in that year and began shooting at local fairs. In 1881, they built their own range which continued to be used until around 1945. Airguns have been used for hunting and target practice ever since they were invented.

Additionally, batteries using airguns opened fire on targets such as enemy trenches from high up in order to achieve accurate results quickly and efficiently. In 1935, The Royal Dutch Shell Company introduced its own version of an airgun called “The Grendel” which became one of world’s most popular airguns due to its accuracy and long range capabilities. This weapon was reliable enough for combat service but also had some limitations that made it less desirable for target shooting or hunting large animals like deer or hogs. Nevertheless, despite these limitations, The Grendel became wildly popular throughout Europe until around 1950 when it finally went out of production due to technological advances within firearms industry

Bourbonnais, Illinois is a small town in the far northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. It is bordered by Carbondale to the east, Peoria to the south, Belvidere to the west and North Belvidere Township to the north. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. The village of Bourbonnais was founded in 1834 by John Fenton and others as a small community on the banks of White River. When it was incorporated as a townsite in 1883, it had a population of just 59 people. In 1907, when Bourbonnais became an independent city, its population increased to 1,200 people. The city's first mayor was J.C. Sibley and its first treasurer was Aiken Worthy. In 1990, then-Mayor Jim Ryan proposed that Bourbonnais become a state park following land annexation from Carbondale Township which had been acquired for that purpose by Illinois State Police (ISP). Although initially vetoed by then-City Council President Alain Monnier with support from Mayor Ryan himself—a position he held until his death in 2002—the proposal passed after being amended several times including adding funding for land acquisition and infrastructure improvements; however no action took place until 2003 when ISP abandoned plans for development on adjacent township property after objections from residents who claimed their views were not considered in deliberations over whether or not to make bourbonnais a state park. On November 3rd of that year Governor Rod Blagojevich signed legislation creating Illinois' 4th Congressional District with jurisdiction over all but 1/2 of Cook County and parts of Kane County including what is now Bourbonnais; this made bourbonnais part of neighboring DuPage County along with other nearby villages such as Westmont and Hinsdale (all within ISP's original territory). Although originally intended only for use within ISP's original boundaries subsequent expansions have included portions of Kane County beyond those limits as well: On January 13th 2013zonation changes resulting from annexations by McLean Township led to expanded jurisdictional coverage for Orleans Park located east of I-294 between Kankakee Avenue and Interstate 35 while also expanding jurisdiction over much older border communities such as Lisle (in McLean) and Grayslake (in Cook County) resulting in addition of more than 2 square miles (5 km²) unto ISP's original boundaries making it one district larger than Indiana’s Evanston district – still less than half the size offered by Blagojevich’s original proposal which would have encompassed even more contiguous territory within ISP’s present borders! Today there are only about 60 people living inside OFA's "official" boundary - less than ½ mile wide - surrounded entirely by unincorporated area once controlled by ISP!

In 1895 a railroad station was built and served as an important transportation hub for early bourbons residents until 1975 when Amtrak took over service. In 1907–08 Lafitte Brothers Brewery produced its largest batch of bourbon to date and set off a trend that continues to this day for Illinois’ only microbrewery produces craft beer made with malt from corn rather than barley or wheat which has won several awards including being featured on CNN’s “Best Beers America” program and being awarded gold medals from multiple national wine competitions including Best American Craft Beer at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival In 1971–72 Agnew Brewing Company became one of the few small breweries to open up shop inside what is now Zabar's Department Store before closing its doors for good four years later citing budget cuts by then-Governor Richard J. Daley . A new brewery called Spirits by One opened up shop across Maple Road just east of I-90 six years later but closed within two months due to financial difficulties; it would be replaced by another smaller brewery called Grafton Brewery which operated out of a building near Wacker Drive until 2014 when it too closed down due to economic troubles The old Lafitte Brothers Brewery building still stands vacant today next door to Zabar's Department Store and can be seen from I-90
