Bolingbrook is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Bolingbrook was founded in 1847 by George and Sarah Bolingbroke. It became an incorporated town in 1879. Bolingbrook is located in the southern parts of Chicago, on the border of Lake Michigan and just south of the Indiana state line. The area now known as Bolingbrook was first settled by farmers who came from New England during the American Revolution. In 1795, when Illinois became a state, many of these early settlers moved to what is now Bolingbrook Township because they thought it would be more fertile than areas further north in Cook County. In 1817, George and Sarah Bolingbroke bought 1/4 acre (0.18 km²) of land northeast of present-day downtown Bolingbrook for $100 cash. They named their new township after their father-in-law's ancestral home in Berkshire, England where he had emigrated several years earlier. The first public meeting held in this new township occurred on May 10, 1817; it consisted of nine residents and approved a plan to build a modest school house and get started on developing some land around it for farming purposes. In 1830, following Congressional approval of a bill authorizing incorporation as townships within Cook County, the Bolings brooks donated additional land to form what is now northeastern corner of present-day downtown Bolingbrook; this property had been used for grazing operations by local farmers since before 1800! After years of hard work by local citizens – including building roads and bridges – what we see today as downtown Bollinger Brook was formally dedicated to the public on December 2nd 1899! Today’s downtown core began growing rapidly due largely to two factors: World War II demand for materials shipped through Joliet & Chicago Ports;and then again following economic growth that took place throughout much of suburban Cook County over many decades! Today’s Downtown Bollinger Brook contains many businesses that have grown up or continue operating due to our community’s qualityof life & convenient location!

It became an unincorporated community on February 2, 1903. On November 3, 1923 Bolingbrook merged with the neighboring village of Mount Prospect to form the new city of Mount Prospect-Bolingbrook.
