By 1850, there were over 100 residents living in Bolingbrook. In 1875, a church/schools were built within the limits of what is now known as North Park Place (later called Illinois Square). On May 12th of that year an act was passed by the General Assembly designating land for a public library within present day Bolingbrook – this would later become Northwestern University! In 1915 Bolingbrook had a population of 22 people when World War I started; it had grown to 508 by 1940! During World War IIbolingBrookians contributed more than $4 million dollars to help support military efforts all over Europe! After the end of World War II there continued growth with new housing developments being erected throughout downtown until finally reaching its current size engulfing most of North Park Place which once housed only students and staff at Northwestern University today houses many small businesses as well as luxury residences
