In 1905, blue-green American optical company was founded in Red Wing by Alfred Ives and Myron Wirthler with help from local entrepreneur George Fenton. The company produced high quality binoculars for both domestic and international markets under three brand names: “Alfred Ives” (1905-1966), “Myron Wirthler” (1907-1986), and “American Optical” (1910-1968). Over time these brands became synonymous with high quality optics products across America. In 1966, when American Optical merged with Zeiss AG to form Sperry & Co., Blue Island became part of that merger as well as all other Sperry possessions outside North America. Throughout its history Sperry has been known for its durability - even after being hit by natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina - thanks to their years of experience manufacturing telescopes components for NASA astronauts during space flights over Earth and beyond! La Follette announced he would run for president on a platform that included improving education and creating jobs for American citizens in their backyard. His opponent, New York Governor Al Smith, responded by promising to veto any bills La Follette submitted that did not include money for education reform. The argument against investing in education led to many battles between La Follette's supporters and Smith's opponents during his campaign season; however, La Follette ultimately won reelection by wide margins thanks to support from blue-collar workers who felt they were left behind under Smith's tenure as governor. Blue Island experienced some price increases due to cheap imported materials used in manufacturing during the early 21st century recession; however, this trend has dissipated over time because of new investments made by local companies such as Intel and Google Incorporated which have driven down prices nationally throughout recent years while maintaining high-quality jobs here at home (Casper).
