Ultimately, however, many people throughout downtown bloomington sided with their larger neighbor during the war years – including much later when they rallied around Mayor Richard Joffe in 1985 following Stinzell Young’s Attempted Murder there that year After World War II ended and America began itscling back towards traditions such as industrial democracy and open governmentality, some efforts began to revive interest in downtown Bloomington; this included restoration work on several buildings dating back to prewar days before they were destroyed in bombings during the late 1960s/early 1970s which added insult to injury given that Restoration Authority members had claimed responsibility for those attacks Some recent efforts have been more positive: A new park has been created at Seventh Street and State Street dubbed Renaissance Park while plans are underway for development along State Street between Elmwood Avenue and Wright Boulevard which would add 1 million sqft (100% residential) built units over 20 years bringing economic vitality Downtown
