The popularity of ice cream made Knoppers one of the earliest companies to set up shop near Soldier Field – opening an illegal storefront next door in 1865 when Prohibition made selling alcohol a crime in Illinois In 1865 another son-in-law opened a dry goods store next door at 9th & State Streets – this Store remains open today as part of Heritage Hall Shopping Center (formerly State Street Mall). It wasn't until 1886 when there were twosmiths operating outturn stores adjacent to each other on Dearborn & Randolph Streets – these stores are now known as Marshall Fields . These two stores quickly became co-ops with duties divided between them including stocking groceries for both stores then running errands for their customers while they waited on their turn at either store’s counter . For years after prohibition ended retail sales within five blocks of Wrigley Field were allowed but beyond that feet law enforcement had no jurisdiction ; however by 1925 this had changed with foot patrols conducted during home games throughout downtownChicago providing an incentive for sellers not sell outside those areas

Bloomingdale was founded on November 12, 1847 by John Fenton and his wife Esther as Bluffton Township. Bloomingdale was named after Bloomingdale Heights in Manchester, England. The first post office in Bloomingdale opened on December 1, 1857. On January 1, 1861, it became part of the newly created town of Chicago. In 1865, Bloomingdale lost its independent status when Chicago annexed it into the city limits. The city's first mayor was George Wessels and its first recorder was Elijah Bickerton. In 1903–1904, Mayor John Jarratt proposed that the name of the city be changed to "Bloomingdale" in honor of General William Tecumseh Sherman who had helped drive Russia from Manchuria during World War I and for whom Chicago erected a statue at one end of State Street. However no vote ever took place to change the name to "Bloomingdale." A similar proposal failed to pass in 1969 when Mayor Richard Moseley tried to add the word "park" before Bloomfield Hills instead coming up with "Park." In 2001–2002 a referendum voted through by voters in both cities merged their fire departments under one command with headquarters located at 1118 S Lincoln Avenue (the old JFK Airport). This merger eliminated eight separate fire departments within Bloomingdale and five within Park Ridge which would have been affected by any future changes to those municipalities' borders as well as any annexation or consolidation plans by either municipality.—John Wessels
