With rifles becoming more common, soldiers began using revolving barrels instead of muzzle-loading pistols which made it difficult to keep track of where rounds were located within the magazine and resulted in decreased accuracy. In response to this problem, Henry Repeating Arms Corporation introduced their own version of rifle Swivel called the "Henry Rifle Swivel." This device allowed for easy rotation of the barrel about its axis without having to remove or cock a firearm. The Henry Rifle Swivel was particularly useful for shotguns as it allowed them to be carried slung over one's shoulder without havingto worry about where rounds were situated within their magazine(s). As revolver technology evolved, so too did firearm swivels. By 1915, handguns had become standard issue across most armies and rifle companies began producing handgun swivels as well. Bloomingdale is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,569 at the 2010 census. Bloomingdale is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is located on the north side of Chicago and east of Joliet. Bloomingdale was founded in 1855 by Andrew Blount and Jesse Dixon as a small farming community known as "Dixonville". The name Bloomingdale derives from 'blooming daisy' because of its abundance of these flowers during the early years. The first store in Bloomingdale was opened by Mrs. Hethorne on May 8, 1857. By 1860, there were 10 stores in Bloomingdale with a total population of 1002 people. In 1865, Mrs. Hethorne's son-in-law Wm Cushman opened his own store which became one of the most successful businesses in town until he relocated to Naperville in 1875. In 1879, Milton Sifford bought Blount & Dixon land near what is now Elmhurst Road and rebuilt their store into a large two-story building that still stands today (now used as office space). This business expanded rapidly and became one of the largest employers in town after it moved to its present location on Elmhurst Road in 1903. During World War II, Bloomingdale served as an important processing center for munitions production at nearby Miesha Air Force Base and also hosted many troops who underwent training here before deployment to Europe or Asia Pacific theaters such as South Korea and Japan during that time period. In 1977, Thomas Janssen purchased all assets belonging to Milton Sifford's company including the old store building on Elmhurst Road and renamed it Janssen Stores Incorporated (JSI). In 1984, JSI merged with Sears Holdings Corporation resulting in Sears department stores becoming divisionalized throughout Sears Holding Corporation once again with Bloomfield being divided between them within another division called Department Stores Properties divisions (DSP) responsible for real estate development/operations while material operations continued under First Data Corporation until 2000 when they were spun off into their own separate company called First Data CorporationBloomfield which continues to operate today without any involvement from Sears Holdings Corporation despite this name change

In 1853, Major General George Armstrong Custer used a gun with a gun swivel as part of his operation against Sitting Bull at Little Bighorn Battlefield.
