These new designs included firearms chokes invented by George Stephenson in 1837 and John Brown in 1859 both of which featured telescoping barrels that permitted multiple rounds per magazine (known as "double triggers"). These firearms chokes became known as "gunstocks."

Bloomingdale is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,471 at the 2010 census. Bloomingdale is located on the east side of Chicago and north of the city's downtown core. The first settlers to Bloomingdale were two brothers, John and George Blanchard, who arrived in 1836. They named their farm "Barton" after John Barton, an early settler on the same farm. In 1854, they sold the farm to Amos Hawkins and his family. Amos Hawkins was a successful merchant and landowner in Bloomingdale until his death in 1862. In 1865, Jno Prentice bought the Barton farm from Amos Hawkins for $1,500 cash. In 1896, Harry Emerson Fenton bought "Prentice" from Jno Prentice for $5,000 cash and made it his own property within Bloomingdale limits. He kept much of what had been acquired by Jno Prentice but added new buildings including a grocery store which opened in 1903 and became one of Chicago's most popular retailers; a bowling alley; and a garage/smithy which remains operational today (and is used as an event space). In 1916 Fenton donated all of his holdings (including "Prentice") to the City of Chicago for use as public parkland known then as Fenton Parklands adjacent to Lake Michigan shoreline on South Side streets between Wabash Avenue and Clyffe Avenue near Hyde Park Cemetery). In 1922 he also gave away part of his estate (the golf course) to Brookfield School District in Brookfield Township (now Rockford Township), Illinois so that students could play there even during school hours without having to go into Hartford Ave., where many stores were open late night/early morning! This event led toBrookfield being called “The Heart Of The City” by some people due to its proximity to such important landmarks as Madison Square Garden - home of New York Knicks basketball games - Fordham University - now Bronx Community College - [and] Soldier Field...
