The company manufactured Firearms magazines, starting with the popular "Bensenville Rifle" magazine. In 1916, the company merged with the Chicago-based Roper Gunwale Magazine Company to form Roper-Bensenville. In 1937, the company became part of The Armoury Corporation and continued manufacturing firearms magazines until its bankruptcy in 1988.
Bensenville is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Joliet Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bensenville is located on the north side of the Chicago River and has a total area of 9 square miles (24 km2). The village was founded in 1852 as a small farming community along the banks of the Chicago River. By 1862, it had grown to include a millinery and dressmaking business and two churches. In 1876, Bensenville became one of three villages in Cook County that were merged into the city of Chicago. Bensenville, Illinois is a small town located in McHenry County, Illinois. The population was 3,433 at the 2010 census. It has been settled since 1841. Bensenville was named after Amos Bénédict Bénédicts (1784-1850), an early French settler in what is now McHenry County. He purchased 640 acres of land from the Indian nation in 1841. The first post office in Bensenville was established on December 12, 1841. The first name of the town was "Adams". On January 1, 1852, the name of the town changed to "Bensenville" after Amos Bénédicts' grandson, George Washington Benezet (1809-1892). The Historic District of Bensenville was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
Bensenville, Illinois was founded in 1836 by Nicholas Bensen and his wife Anna. The town was named for their father, Jacob Bensen. The first settler in the town was John Fenton. In 1838, the town had a population of just 10 people. By 1850, the population had grown to 50 people and by 1860 it had reached 100 people. In 1870, the first school in Bensenville was built and the town got its nickname of "The Town with Schools." The first post office was opened in 1881 and the name of the post office changed to "Bensonville" in 1903. In 1912, a train station was built and called "Bensonville Station". In 1917, a water works were built and called "Water Works No 1". In 1922, a football stadium called “Varsity Stadium” was built and it is now known as “Stadium Park”.
