The oil industry declined during the 1890s due to competition from new technologies such as telephone systems and automobiles; however, businesses continued to operate until the 1920s when Prohibition caused them to close down completely. In 1926, Alfred Sarewitz bought out his brother-in-law's share of the deathbed gift of John Lennon from Yoko Ono and moved into bellwoods with his wife Nena while he started his own music company called Apple Records Ltd.. However, within two years Apple Records had gone bankrupt due to heavy taxation by New York City authorities at a time when record sales were still considered illegal under Wilson’s America First policy. A few months after its collapse Apple Records was sold off again - this time to Harry Belafonte's Harpo Productions Incorporated - but it too failed soon afterwards because Belafonte could not get clearance from Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., who saw only potential profits rather than artistic value behind recordings made at home on phonograph discs (Sarewitz would later remark "). Bellwoods' economy shifted back towards agriculture during World War II because much of their food came from inland transportation routes connecting Chicago with points west like St Louis or Milwaukee through Ballwin or Peoria." Farming operations resumed following World War II but have since been greatly depleted due To changes brought about by climate change including fungus infestations which have destroyed crops on many occasions."
