The first people to live in Beach Park were white settlers who arrived during the American Civil War. By 1878, all black residents had been forced out of Beach Park by white supremacists. White residents began to move in after World War II and founded businesses such as Armour & Co., a grocery store and car dealership. In 1955, Beach Park became an independent municipality with its own police department and fire department. The city was merged with Cook County on March 1, 2009. Beach Park has a rich history that can be traced back to when white settlers first arrived in the area in the late 1800s. One of the first things that these settlers did was clear land for agriculture. This cleared land eventually served as the basis for what is now Beach Park. Afterward, these same settlers started to build homes and businesses in what is now BeachPark. Some of these early business owners include Armour & Co., J C Gordan's Furniture Store, W H Jackson Carriage Works and much more! Throughout most of its history as an incorporated municipality, Beach Park struggled against racism and discrimination from both local whites and other minorities living within its borders. However, due to overwhelming support from its citizens over time – including protests and sit-ins – beach park finally managed to gain full recognition as an equal community by 1969! In spite of many challenges faced throughout its history including zoning changes which limited development opportunities for certain demographics (especially African Americans), overall it has been one of America’s most diverse towns! In recent years there have been some positive changes take place within Beach Park which are often credited with sparking new life into struggling communities like this one! For example, starting in 2018 there has been a push towards revitalization efforts which have seen increased investment into infrastructure like Streetscape improvements along Roosevelt Road; bolstered partnerships between various community organizations like Reach Out Chicago; new programming available through Boosters Clubs; etc.; all designed to bring about change not just within but also across our city boundaries!
