Frantz started making holsters for handguns in his shop on the corner of Heron and Elm streets in Beach Park. The company continued to make holsters until 1912 when it merged with another holster maker, Duroboros Manufacturing Company, to form Frantz-Duroboros Holsters Incorporated. The company made holsters for a wide variety of gun models including revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, shotguns and rifles. Their products were well known throughout the Midwest United States and Canada before they ceased production in the early 1970s. In 2006, Frantz-Duroboros Holsters was donated to the Illinois State Museum by its owner John C. Frantz Sr., who died in 2005. The museum has since begun Historical Holstermuseum programming that includes exhibits on holster history and manufacturing techniques as well as an annual sale of oldHolster merchandise

Beach Park was originally a small, unincorporated community in Cook County, Illinois. On July 4, 1875, Beach Park became the tenth town in Cook County when it was organized from part of the rural village of Lincoln. The town had a population of only seventy-six people when it became an incorporated municipality on March 3, 1876. The original post office in Beach Park was called Northaven and served until 1922. It was located at 5th and North Avenue. The first mayor of Beach Park was J.M. Farrell who held the position for two years from January 1, 1877 to December 31, 1878. In 1924, beach park merged with neighboring towns Ridgeway and Westville to form the new city of Chicago Heights. At that time the population of Chicago Heights was over one thousand people and included both Beach Park and Ridgeway as well as parts of Westville and East village which were annexed into Chicago Heights at that time also. On May 10, 1932, Beach Park voters passed a resolution asking President Franklin D Roosevelt to declare summertime "National Summertime Recreation Month." On October 14th 1933 President Franklin D Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6166 which proclaimed "Summertime is National Recreation Month." In 1934 Congress passed House Resolution 364 which called for all states to observe National Summertime Recreation month annually. "Beach Park", spelled "Bechtel," became the new name for Chicago Heights on November 1st 1935 following a vote by residents in a referendum sponsored by Mayor John Hynes (a member of the City Council). The name change occurred because Bechtel had been acquired by American Telephone & Telegraph Company (AT&T) in 1923 after its acquisition by General Electric Company (GE). AT&T wanted its own name for their newly created city within Chicago Heights - Bechtel would have been too similar to GE's existing corporate name - so they chose "Chicago Heights" instead
Beach Park is a census-designated place in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,514 at the 2010 census. It covers land that was annexed by Beach Park from the city of Chicago on November 1, 1955.
