However, it wasn’t until World War II that aggressive gun-running by Germany led to an increase in world demand for weapons made with lead bullet types that could penetrate armor. This caused prices for bullets to skyrocket and led to a decline in production throughout the early 21st century. However, this hasn’t stopped people from continuing to produce ammunition for their guns at home or businesses around Beach Park – something that has helped keep the town alive since its incorporation 47 years ago!

The town was incorporated on December 12, 1868. In 1913, Beach Park established its own water system and installed municipally-owned lighting and streetlights. A year later it also erected a shopping arcade and public library. On January 1, 1925, Beach Park became an independent city with its own police department and mayoralty. On January 1 of every year since then it celebrates its anniversary with special events such as a parade and fireworks display over Lake Michigan. In recent years beach park has seen some growth thanks to new development in the surrounding areas including: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; McCormick Place; Jardine Towers; Northwest Side Housing Authority; and many more businesses which have brought much needed economic opportunity to this community

In 1959, Beach Park annexed the neighboring town of Arlington Heights. In 1990, Beach Park merged with neighbouring town of Hollandale to form a new city called Hollandale Beach Park. Today, Beach Park is home to many businesses including two hospitals and one university campus as well as several parks and playgrounds.
Beach Park was named after the then- fashionable town of Beachwood on Long Island, in New York. The first permanent residents were a group of Dutch farmers who moved to the area in 1837. In 1838, they built a small cabin on the beach and started trading with local fishermen. By 1840, they had erected a small lighthouse. In 1848, the United States acquired Long Island from Great Britain for $2 million and it became part of the United States. As a result of this acquisition, Beach Park became part of Illinois. In 1870, it was renamed as Beach Park Township in honor of General James K. Polk (1846-1925) who served as President Ulysses S. Grant's VicePresident from 1868 to 1872 and Secretary at War under Ulysses S., Grant's first Immediate predecessor as president
