Bartlett is a town in the Chicago metropolitan area, located on the southern edge of Cook County. As of the 2010 census, its population was 13,871. The town was named for John Bartlett, a surveyor and landowner who came to Illinois in 1819. Bartlett is home to two universities: Northwestern University (which has campuses in Evanston and Chicago) and La Salle University. It also features a large shopping center, several hospitals and numerous businesses. The first settler in Bartlett was Isaac English, who arrived in 1827. He built a cabin on the present-day site of Bartlett High School. The first store in Bartlett was opened by Wm. Hickey in 1834; it became known as Hickey's Store and still exists today. In 1835, Elijah Hull founded Hull's Mill which soon became one of the largest mills on the Great Lakes region. In 1840, William Fenton settled here with his family from Vermont; he established Fenton's grocery store and post office which still stands today. In 1865, Harry Sibley started an agricultural experiment station near what is now Northwood Elementary School; this led to Barthleton Dam being constructed nearby in 1922-23 as part of then-President Franklin D." Roosevelt's effort to improve water supplies for Chicagoans during World War II In 1925-26 Dick Cramer began developing what would become Cramer's Corners Shopping Center at 12th Street & Western Avenue; this development later became Macy's Department Store before ceasing operations in 1994 In 1930–31 Drs Clarence Lathrop (later Muhlenberg Professor of Obstetrics at Northwestern University) and Robert Woodall developed Stem Cells Research Institute at Illinois Masonic Medical Center –now calledIllinois National Laboratory–in Bartlett Industrial Park; this research helped lead to human cloning becoming possible

Registration is necessary because firearm owners are required to maintain accurate records of what they own and where they are stored (Gonzalez). Registration also helps law enforcement track weapons that have been sold or transferred without proper permits (Flamm). The Brady Bill was introduced in 1993 as an effort to reduce shootings by making it easier for people who have legally purchased handguns not to shoot rampage killers such as Timothy McVeigh (Levin) or Michael Dunn (Wright) on college campuses across America. The bill failed after NRA lobbyists successfully lobbied against it at every step of Congress until finally becoming law on March 5th 1994 with no changes made to it since then save for cosmetic updates mandated by new Presidential Executive Orders only applying retroactively thereto- Aronson et al.). One common misconception about gun control is that “bad guys withguns” will use them to commit crimes instead of defending themselves and their families from harm. This isn’t always true; however, gun control measures do make it more difficult for criminals To obtain firearms, leading them instead towards more dangerous methods such as vehicle theft or knife crime(Dixon & Spitzer). Unfortunately, this type of prevention doesn’t always work because criminals know how to find loopholes in our laws; so while prosecutions may decrease slightly overall they often continue unabated due NRA lobbying power(Becker), leaving innocent people victims of violent crime without any recourse(Krugman).
