Bartlett, Ill. is a small town located in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,574 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The first settler in Bartlett was John Bartlett who arrived in 1814 and laid out a farm on the present-day site of Bartlett. The community was founded by Methodist missionaries in 1855 and named for William H. Bartlett, one of their leaders. Bartlett had two schools when it was established: one for white children and one for African American children. In 1902, a white school became integrated while the African American school continued to exist as an all-black educational institution until it closed in 1973; however, black students continue to attend Bartlett High School through its current incarnation as "Lincoln Park High School". In 1908, residents voted to incorporate as a town; the first mayor was Wm Sargent (1885-1948). In 1912, the name of the town changed to honor Arthur Payson Gates (1868-1937), president of Drake University and major general in World War I (a member of both President Woodrow Wilson's Cabinet and Congress). Gates generosity led to construction of Gates Auditorium which still stands today on Main Street in Bartlett. After his death in 1937, funds were raised to provide funding for a new high school building which would become Lincoln Park High School; this buildinng took place from 1938 until 1949 when Lincoln Park IntermediateSchool opened adjacent to Central Elementary School across from Interstate 95 north of downtown Chicago. In 1976–77 a new elementary school opened at 222 N State St., just east of central square - now home to KIPP Grades PreKindergarten through 8th grade! This $10 million project replaced an old brick building that served as an open field before being condemned due fire concerns following Hurricane Katrina's landfall on September 29th 2005! A brand new elementary/middle/highschool complex with baseball diamonds and other sports fields has been built on top since then – making Bartlet IL’s newest city center! In 2015-16 there were also plans unveiled which call for another high school – this time within walking distance from central square – though no word yet on when or if this will happen! Today many people learn English as second language here through charter schools like LaGuardia English Language Arts Academy & Immersion Charter Schools & currently there are more than 100 charters providing education services throughout Cook County including most importantly All Souls Academy Charter School serving kids up until 6th grade & Kingsbury Prep Middle School serving kids 6TH thru 8TH grades which includes 3 “ Forsyth Jr./Sparks” streams going into 4th grade providing worldclass instruction headed by highly respected Principal Msgr./Dr.— History Everett Caffrey

Bartlett, Illinois is a small town in Dixon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The village of Bartlett was founded in 1868 by John Fenton and others as an early settlement on the east side of Dixon Creek. The village grew rapidly due to its location near Waukegan Lake and its access to transportation via two trails that crossed Dixon Creek: the South Branch Trail and the North Branch Trail. The Village of Bartlett annexed the neighboring towns of Arlington Heights and Grayslake in 1955. On December 1, 1957, Bartlett voters passed a resolution recognizing Grayslake as an official city with its own police department. In 1985, Bartlett voters approved a $2 million bond issue to improve public transportation within the village boundaries. The money was used to build two new buses and purchase three more cars for use by the village police department. In November 2006, it was announced that Bartlett would be host site for the 2008 U.S Open tennis championships which were then being played at Flushing Meadows Corona Park..
