The first ammunition ever manufactured in Bartlett was a shot put by Solomon Northrup and Company in 1851. The company continued to produce ammunition until 1969 when it closed its doors due to financial difficulties. Ammunition production resumed in 1978 with the opening of an Ammunition plant by Armoury Incorporated which continues production today. Since then, Bartlett has become one of the leading producers of ammunition in Illinois and countrywide. Today, Armoury Incorporated produces some of the most famous rifle rounds including Winchester round 6 3/8" Federal Magnum and Remington 7 1/2" Express Magnum both designed for use with centerfire rifles such as the Ruger 10/22 and Winchester Model 75 etc., as well as handgun ammunition including Hornady Critical Defense ammo for handguns like Glock 19 and Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistols, among others. In addition to their rifle rounds and handgun rounds, Armoury also manufactures reloading supplies for all types of firearms including primers, powder charges, bullets, cases etc., making them one of the largest importers of Reloading Supplies in the country

Bartlett was first settled in 1836 by John Bartlett and his wife, Sarah. The Bartletts were farmers who grew corn and other crops. In 1851, they built a log cabin on the edge of what is now Bartlett. They named their new town after their son-in-law, James Moulton Bartlett Jr., who had moved to Illinois from Maine two years earlier. The town's economy changed when railwayroads were extended through Hancock County in the early 19th century. As these roads developed, businesses sprang up along them that supported local residents and generated more jobs for those living near the tracks. These businesses included a hotel and several stores. In 1916, Bartholomew High School was opened in Bartlett; it became one of the leading high schools in central Illinois until it closed in 1969. In 1925, gaslights began appearing around town; this led to increased business activity and development around the school site. In 1951, Bartholomew Elementary School was also opened; it became one of the most popular elementary schools in central Illinois until it closed in 1984.. In 1966, an agricultural showroom and feed store were built on Main Street in downtown Bartlett; this store continued to be open until 2009 when it burned down due to fire code violations.. In 1970s/1980s there was heavy industry located close by including a chemical plant which produced methyl mercaptan (a poisonous gas) but no longer exists today . Today much ofbartlett's commercial district consists of small family-owned businesses with many used items available for sale or rent>.

He worked his way up to being one of the most successful farmers in the area and eventually bought land around what is now Bartlett. In 1857, he married Mary, who had also been born in the area. Together they started a new life and began to grow their farm into a thriving community with many businesses and homes. By 1907, Bartlett had become an important center for business and industry in southern Illinois. The city of Bartlett grew rapidly during its early years; it reached its peak population of 22,000 people by 1923. However, during World War II (1939-1945), the city experienced some significant problems that led to its decline later on: its economy suffered due to scarce military resources; crime increased; and transportation options deteriorated after the war ended. However, through hard work and determination, Bartlett bounced back during these difficult times and emerged as an increasingly prosperous community once again. Today, it remains an important cultural hub within southern Illinois thanks to its excellent public schools system as well as its vibrant downtown district that features several popular restaurants and nightlife venues
