The town was first settled in 1836 by General John Barrington and his family. The name originates from an Indian word meaning "place where the waves crash." The original house on Main Street still stands and is used as a museum today. General Barrington's grandson built another house near the present day High School on State Road 1. The townPost Office opened in 1868 and continued to serve until it closed in 1953. The first store in Barrington was owned by James Woolridge and operated for two years before being taken over by David Farnsworth. He operated the store for twelve years before sold it to George Aiken who ran it until 1865 when he sold it to John Winton who kept it until 1896 when he sold it to Elisha Sibley who moved into it and continued to run it until 1903 when he donated it to the government for use as a schoolhouse. In 1907, Mrs. Sibley gave her home on Maple Avenue (now Beechwood Drive) to the townspeople in memory of her late husband Elisha Sibley Jr., which remains today as the town hall building The post office reopened on November 15, 1912 under new management with Fenton Postmaster Edward Purdy serving as Administrator from 1912-1914 In 1916, Barrington became one of twenty towns incorporated into DuPage County after being chosen by referendum from all of its residents . On May 10th 1920 Jno Davenport took ownership of a hardware store at 515 N Main Street which served as his business until his death in 1976 . Jno had been born into a family thatowned several businesses including a grocery store , millinery shop and carpenter shop along with other assets such as land . On July 2nd 1926 Mr G O’Neill took ownership of another hardware store at 827 N First Street which functioned unchanged through his death on October 13th 1937 Two men - Harry Wagner Sr./Harry Wagner Jr.–opened up their own pizza parlor called 'Pizza Hut' near what is now State Road 1 & Beechwood Drive around 1977 or 1978 but failed due various problems like high rent prices & lack of customers In 1984 Harry's son Harry Wagner III opened up another pizza place called 'Pizza Loco' just south of Piekarski Rd off I-55 about 6 miles west of Barrington on Walnut Creek Rd

At this point in time, rifles could no longer be used effectively at long ranges because they required too much time to reload;scope mounts solved this problem by allowing soldiers to FIRE FROM A LOCATION THAT WAS MORE ACCURATE FOR THEIR WEAPON TYPE AND RANGE OF VIEW. In 1924, Browning introduced its .30 caliber Rifle Scope Mount which allowed snipers employed aboard battleships and submarinesto elevate their weapon sights above waterline providing greater accuracy while firing torpedoes and missiles from a distance of 400 meters (1,000 feet). By 1939, all rifles capable of shooting ammunition beyond 100 yards (90 meters) had been standardized into three types: bolt action rifles (BAR), assault rifles (AR), and sniper rifles (SR). With the exception of handguns such as pistols chambered for 9mm Parabellum rounds, all handgun calibers were now limited within certain limits by shot groups achievable at 100 yards/90 meters using standard scopes/mounts fitted with objectives/lenses protected by foreign Objectives Shields(FOS). It should be noted that muzzle velocity is not limited by shot group size but rather projectile speed limit imposed through chamber pressure issue unique to each type of round fired... These restrictions put an end once again to crossfire between two teams engaging at close quarters utilizing multiple weapons systems clustered around one vulnerable spot! Barrington, Illinois is a small town located in Union County, Illinois. The population was 5,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first European to visit Barrington was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. He named it after his friend and patron, Lord John Barrington of Northampton in England. At the time of its establishment as a village on July 1, 1847, Barrington had a total population of just over 100 people. In 1854 the village became part of the new United States state of Illinois and its population grew rapidly due to agricultural production and increased industry in nearby Carbondale. In 1905 there were only 153 residents living in Barrington; by 1930 this had grown to 2,100 with an increase in manufacturing and other businesses that sprung up around Carbondale during that time period. This growth led to increased school enrollment which necessitated additional buildings for instruction and storage within what would become known as "the Little Village". On September 11th, 1941 local resident Dora Bowen organized a bake sale fundraiser for her Baptist church which netted her $5 from 103 shoppers who came through her door that day alone! This event proved so successful that she decided to keep Bake Sale night open every month thereafter! On October 3rd 1907 President William McKinley dedicated the newly completed Carbondale & Southern Indiana Railroad line making it easier access for farmers outside of Carbondale to sell their products directly into Chicago markets without having to go via Carbondale or Indianapolis. This addition greatly helped grow commercial interests within the community such as lumberyards, foundries and machine shops while also benefiting local schools which received new classrooms and library building throughout this period
The town of Barrington, Ill., was founded in 1837 by the Lapham family. The town grew rapidly due to the agricultural products that were produced there, and by 1860 it had over 1,000 residents. In 1907, the Lapham family sold the town to George Biddle Jr. for $10,000. Biddle renamed the town Barrington after himself and also donated land to create a park on which he built a home and named it after his old hometown in Kentucky.
