Barrington, Illinois is a small town in the northwest corner of Illinois. It is bordered by McLean County to the north, Lake County to the east, and Kane County to the south. The population was 9,471 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1856 when a group of farmers purchased land from David Barrington. The original name of Barrington was Indian Lick Township. The name change came about because David's father-in-law, John Hinkle, changed his last name to Barrington after he bought some land in that area. There were several other local changes before 1870 when residents decided on the present spelling for their community name – Barrington Township. On September 15, 1881, settlers from neighboring towns of Batavia and Rome moved into what is now Barrington and began building homes. They soon realized that they had chosen an ideal location for their new town because it lay on high ground near two rivers – Mena and Black River – which helped provide water access as well as ample farmland for crops and livestock. It wasn't until 1892 that electricity started being delivered to the community through a copper wire system extending out from Rome (now part of McLean County). At first people used candles or kerosene lamps but eventually tin cans became popular lightbulbs due to their lightweight nature and easy installation. In 1906 all schools in the township were consolidated into one school district so that parents could have more choice in where they sent their children to school; this also made it easier for barbershops and other businesses within minutes' walk of home to join forces with one another! During World War I there were many factories located in nearby Decatur which produced munitions such as artillery shells and machine guns; however most residents did not see combat because service members were stationed elsewhere at the time. However during World War II production stopped at these factories due to wartime shortages; however some residents still managed find work at those companies after the war ended! In 1959 an addition unto Buskinton Heights subdivision was built adjacent Barrington Elementary School which increased student enrollment by 25%. In 1970 a large garage/workshop complex was completed off Northwest Highway just south of High Street & Buskinton Heights Parkway; this served as both a storage facility for materials needed for construction projects as well as a place where customers could buy surplus items from local wood yards before being turned over to developers for sale or development purposes! Today much of this structure remains unchanged including its massive garage - measuring 50 feet wide x 55 feet long x 10 feet deep - although recent renovation has added 5 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms! Today's economy focuses mainly on agriculture with several small businesses providing goods & services related thereto; although there are efforts underway by some residents towards developing retail stores within walking distance of home! Some notable infrastructure projects upcoming include: new roads connecting town center with various rural areas around it (including newly acquired property adjoining Interstate 70) as well as extensions & renovations along Northwest Highway mainline between Buskinton Heights Parkway & High Street - both scheduled for completion early next year!

Barrington, Illinois is a town in La Salle County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Barrington is located on Hennepin County's eastern border and it includes most of the towns of Sheridan and Arlington Heights. The first mention of Barrington comes from a document dated November 12, 1809 when Jean Baptiste Point du Sable wrote about his journey from Canada to the Great Lakes region: "I passed through this place [Barrington] on my way to Duluth." In 1814, during the Mexican-American War, General Anthony Wayne marched his army through Barrington on their way to Mexico City. On July 5th of that year George Washington arrived in Barrington after spending two weeks traveling downriver from St. Louis via Mount Morris and Warsaw Lakes. In 1859 John Fenton built a mill in what is now known as Fenton Park which was one of the earliest mills operating in Illinois outside of Chicago. The mill operated until 1924 when it was replaced by an automated one which still stands today and produces flour for local restaurants and flour sales nationwide. On October 15th 1870 residents voted to incorporate as a village under the name Arlington Heights with a population size of sixty-four people; however due to lack of funds barreling ahead with plans for an initial public offering (IPO) failed within two years and so there never really was anyone at large governing or managing affairs until incorporation grew pains starting in 1916 when Jane Addams became involved giving her blessing along with some community leaders who also resided nearby including Mrs. Jameson who ran an all day laundry across Main Street; post office opened soon after providing additional service income important for small villages like these early days were characterized by volunteer boards/officers only responsible with meeting once every few months not much beyond that even though mail service increased gradually over time increasing frequency & pace– deliveries would arrive Wednesdays morning except for Christmas weekdays when Thursdays arrived next door due to added I street car route
