Barrington is a small town located in the central Illinois region. It was founded in 1837 by Andrew and Mary Barrington. The population of Barrington was 1,381 at the 2010 census. The community is home to a shopping center, post office, high school, and two churches. The history of Barrington can be traced back to 1837 when Andrew and Mary Barrington moved from Liverpool, England to what is now known as Barrington Township in central Illinois. At the time, it was one of the most rural areas in the area and consisted of only a few homes. However, over time, development began to occur within the township and eventually neighboring townships. In 1906, Barrington became an incorporated municipality with a total population of 2,564 residents. The growth within the municipality had continued through the years and by 1990 it had reached its current size with 3,561 residents. Today, aspects of Main Street remain unchanged since they were first laid out more than 80 years ago including both store fronts on either side of Maple Avenue which are still used today for various purposes such as local businesses that use them as locations for displays or for public meetings during winter months; as well as a busy intersection near Schoolhouse Road where all three streets converge into one large thoroughfare that provides access to all manner of businesses throughout the community including two banks (one national), two hardware stores/ retail outlets (including One Stop Shop Outlet - also open year-round), four restaurants/bars (three open year-round), two nightclubs (one weekends only), several convenience stores/ gas stations/convenience shops; fifteen housing units totaling over 350 square feet; fifty-six schools operated by nine different school districts located throughout Central Illinois; twenty-four streetlights providing illumination throughout portions of town during Daylight Saving Time periods; eighteen traffic signals controlled by signal controllers who provide turn lanes or shoulders while directing traffic on roads within town limits; twelve water taps supplying drinking water to approximately one thousand residences within town limits; six vacant land parcels currently being developed into residential dwellings with grand plans for future expansions should their success indicate interest from developers who would like to include these properties in their communities In addition to its many assets such as mainstreet preservation efforts spearheaded by volunteer members working together each day whether it’s snowing or not serious shoveling needed on sidewalks outside grocery stores during bad weather due greatly increased property values because people are concerned about keeping their homes dry during those timesor increased enforcement against graffiti vandalism which has decreased significantly due Park Elementary students painting shop windows blackduring this past school year.; barring any obstacles there have been other organizations formed such as Garden Club which has put up artificial Christmas trees at every stoplight along Main Street which attracts people from surrounding towns while also raising money for charity;; Rotary Club has hosted numerous fundraisers golf tournaments pancake breakfast etc., Mothers Day Tea - usually held at KFC located adjacent to High School football field opposite snack stands on north side after morning announcements made available until 10am so mothers can get lunch before returning home (); chamber OF Commerce continues hosting social functions such as mother's day brunch dinners served outdoors beginning Saturday afternoons through Thursday evening then indoors next door starting Friday night continuing until 11pm

Barrington is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,598 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settlement in what is now Barrington was a farmstead called "Milton" on the north side of present-day Barrington Road just south of the village limits. The first settler to own land within modern-day Barrington Township was John Milton who bought 640 acres (248 hectares) from Amos Kendall in 1825. A post office called "Barton" was established in 1827, and remained open until it closed in 1907. In 1835, Judge George Stephenson built a log cabin on a knoll overlooking the township courthouse square which served as his home for many years until he moved to Peoria, Illinois in 1865. In 1840, Joseph Barton set up a gristmill and sawmill at what is today Barton Creek Road and continued to operate them until 1862 when they were merged with the nearby flour mill operated by Elisha Canfield and his son Ebenezer Canfield. The earliest permanent settler of what became Barrington Township was Isaac Saha who arrived there in 1837 from Boston via Erie Canal Company steamer "Cleveland". He erected two stores and started farming; one acre (0.4 hectare) of this original land became barreledowns (now part of Barrington Park). Saha's son Samuel also settled here about 1840–1846 prior to coming overland via Buffalo Bayou from Missouri during the Mexican American War under General Zachary Taylor’s command as an officer with Company K US Infantry Regiment 4th Brigade regular troops under Gen Jesse James Dixon’s command & later Surgeon General Winfield Scott Hancock's division during the Civil War serving with distinction throughout that conflict including winning three battles viz: Second Battle of Bull Run July 21st 1861 – After retreating off road near Sharpsburg Maryland lost touch with lead unit then learned National Guard had recaptured it 2 miles east at White SandsMonumental victory leading to Clay Shaw promotion 3rd Lieutenant colonel Ulysses S Grant assigned himCommanding Division supply column march into Richmond Virginia 16 days later where he relieved Lt Col Robert Anderson (& 3rd Brigade Cavalry commander) after Battle of Appomattox Court HouseApril 14th 1865 General Ulysses S Grant ordered all forces turned around & march back home
