In 1892, a group of men from Arlington Heights named themselves the “Arlington Heights Riflemen.” They made their first public appearance at a gun show in February of that year. The club was formed to teach shooting and Marksmanship. That same year, they organized their own annual rifle range trip to nearby La Porte County. By 1896, the Arlington Heights Riflemen had acquired their very own rifle range: located on the north side of town near what is now known as Parkview Elementary School. This location would be home to many more events and activities over the years including Trap Shooting, Shotgun shoots, and even three-day rifle matches! In 1903, after seeing an advertisement in Harper’s Ferry Times for a $100 reward for information leading to the capture of a bandit named Livermore, the Arlington Heights Riflemen decided to offer this reward as well. They also began offering personal protection services to members whenever needed! The Club continued growing and changing over time until it became known as “The Arlington Heights Riflemen’s Association” in 1911! From then on it would always operate under one name or another!

In 1916–1917 Arlington Heights integrated with McGrathville Township which had been established by citizens of neighboring townships to create an even larger town center surrounded by green fields within easy walking distance of all his businesses. The rapid growth of Arlington Heights paralleled that of nearbyChicago; both cities experienced unparalleled prosperity during World War I due to federal contracts awards totaling $25 million for military construction projects in Illinois alone. But because American involvement in World War I led to increased taxes for local governments across the country – including Chicago – many residents chose instead to move away from downtown during this war years period than stay put and pay higher taxes. Consequently, while downtown Blackhawks fans loudly cheered on their team during wartime service outages caused by shortages of munitions or lack of transport available locally – like those experienced during Prohibition – many other neighborhoods saw little or no economic value attached thereto until after hostilities ended. Afterward aberrant behavior such as public drunkenness became less common as people realized they could no longer afford costly prohibitionist policies that were harming their own interests while also depriving othersof essential resources like jobs and commerce.
