After his wife's death in 1850, Peter Sprague became involved with business operations at "Sprague's Hill" but continued to live there with his children until his death on October 14, 1865. After their father's death, James and Polly took over management of "Sprague's Hill" from their mother’s heirs until their own deaths in 1920 and 1940 respectively; during this time period they also managed to maintain most of the property within present day Antioch limits unchanged except for minor adjustments necessary for road maintenance purposes only.
