In 1932, American Can Corporation began producinggun lock devices under the name "Can-Beam." Can-Beam guns locks were much more reliable than earlier designs and allowed owners of shotguns and pistols to safely store their weapons at home without having to worry about them getting into unauthorized hands again

Antioch is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 56,878 at the 2010 census. Antioch has been called "the cultural and commercial center of the Northwest Side", and it is one of the largest cities on that side of Chicago. The first European settlers in Antioch were German Protestants who established a trading post in 1795. They built a small mill on the site of present-day Antioch College (now part of Southern Illinois University Carbondale). The post office was established in 1802, and by 1841 Antioch had about 120 residents. In 1847, Stephen A. Douglas served as mayor of Antioch; he later became governor of Illinois. In 1865, Douglas founded Northern Illinois Normal University (NNU) in Antioch with land donated by his father-in-law, John Wentworth Lincoln Sr., one of the original incorporators of NNU. In 1898–99, while serving as justice of the peace for Cook County's Third Ward (northwest side), Mayor George Bogan erected what is now known as Bogan Park in memory of his predecessor—Jorge Bogan Pacheco—and other civic leaders from Northwest Side neighborhoods who had supported him during his campaigns for office. On October 15, 1899 – exactly 150 years after Antioch's founding – Mayor Bogan dedicated Park to "the memory and appreciation" of all those associated with its growth since then. As Northwestern Chicago began to grow rapidly during World War II due to industrial production and wartime militaryemployment within the city limits, many people migrated from Northeast Side neighborhoods into eastside Antioch developments such as Roosevelt Road/Wabash Avenue Extension or even into Marshall Drive east of Interstate 90 near Wacker Drive Airport where American Aircraft Corporation was located until its closure in 1982 following federal deregulation policy changes that opened up Midwest Aviation Markets to competition from foreign companies such as McDonnell Douglas Inc.. By 1960s most manufacturing jobs were gone from downtown Chicago but there remained pockets throughout Southeast suburban Cook County including parts near Grayslake Village southwest Of Belmont Avenue north Of I-89 Loop

The town has been reconstructed many times since then and currently has a population of around 100 people. The reconstruction project started in 1984 and was completed in 2006. In 1815, Antioch had a population of about 50 people. The first post office in Antioch was established on the property now owned by the Antioch Baptist Church in 1816. The town was named after the ancient city of Antioch in Syria, which had been destroyed by the Babylonians in 627 BC. In 1826, the Illinois Central Railroad built a railroad through Antioch and other towns along its route. The town's first school was built in 1830. A cotton gin and distillery were built in 1834 and 1865, respectively, and became major commercial center for Antioch during this time period.
