In addition to providing access to Rockford/La Grange Township businesses for customers who work outside ofChicago or those who cannot easily get into downtown Chicago during peak hours (such as students), this extension will also provide a new source of revenue for the city government through fares collected by Amtrak at Rockford/La Grange Station
