Alsip is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 506 at the 2010 census. Alsip is located on the southeast side of Chicago. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Bethlehem metropolitan area. The first settler in Alsip was Nicholas Hennig who arrived in 1785 and built a cabin on the north side of present day Elmwood Avenue. The town was founded by Peter Krieger in 1827 as a result of his purchase of . Krieger named it after his native Alsatian village, Krefeld (present-day Cologne, Germany). Krieger's successor, John Stephenson, renamed Alsip after himself for his successful operation as a fur trader and explorer in what is now Minnesota Territory. In 1858, Stephenson soldestepped Wisconsin to found Galena, Illinois; Stephenson's Landing became Galena township in 1859. In 1865, Alsip merged with neighbouring Village of North Aurora to form Village of North Side which continued to exist until its merger with South Side in 1893. That year also saw the founding of Park Ridge by Reverend George Aiken and Dr Samuel Morse along with other early settlers; Park Ridge would become one of America's largest villages when it incorporation into Chicago four years later. A severe blizzard hit Cook County during December 1888 which destroyed many homes and businesses including those owned by George Washington Carver Sr.; however Carver never lost faith that education could help achieve social progressivism despite difficult odds - he donated over $100 thousand towards various causes during 1888 alone Additionally crops were sown using high powered hand plows giving rise to surnames such as "Carver," "Hansen," "Carpenter" etc., most likely owing to this initial success story—and soon thereafter other farmers began adopting these methods for their own operations . By 1899 more than half the residents were Americanized Germans having acquired citizenship through naturalization or residency within our borders . This also helped spur heavy industry development such as breweries (eagerly seeking access to cheap American labor) and meatpacking plants (pushing eastward from cities), all while keeping rural residential interests alive

Alsip is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Alsip is located on the north side of Chicago and is bordered by Aurora to the east and Northbrook to the south. The village of Alsip was incorporated on November 3, 1892. The first settler in what would become Alsip was George Washington Wilson who founded a cabin near present day Alsip Township on August 24, 1827. Wilson's land included what is now parts of Aurora and Northbrook Township. George Peabody settled in what would become Alsip township on July 10, 1829 after purchasing 640 acres from Abraham Lincoln for $200 ($ in current money). Peabody built his house near modern day Central Park West and called it Peabody Heights. He also developed a farmstead known as Montrose Landing which still stands today next to the busy Harlem River Road intersection just east of downtownChicago; this property became part of present-day Aurora later that year. In 1834Lucius Carr (1795-1872) sold two parcels of land totaling 1 acre (4,000 m²), one southwest corner lot (now part of South Side Village), to John Campbell for $1 (). This site became home to Carr's Masonic Lodge No 2 which met there until 1840 when it moved into its current location at 720 Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago (). In 1835the village was renamed "AlsIP"after Amos Prentice Colby who donated 1800 acres () northeast of downtownChicago toward creating an agricultural center extending along Lake Michigan shoreline.), founder or first mayorof Indianapolis Indiana (), chairman or treasurerofthe National Bank Of America (),and other investors contributed 1000 dollars () towards foundingthe village (); this donation allowed for incorporation under Illinois law on November 3rd.,1892.) By 1870Alsip had a population exceeding 100 residents (). In 1865John Fenton opened up a grocery store at 5th & Elm Streets becoming one of earliest successful businesses in Alspiirn.; during that time groceries were not even available commercially until about 1890 . By 1880Fenton's store carried over 500 items including flour, breadfruit products, milk, eggs and butter; he closed his business due to competition from Armour Brick & Mortar Company which bought out his entire stock within three years - this event helped contribute to suburbanization within Cook County beginning around that time.). In 1886 John Fenton married Ida Murchison who died aged 91 years old in 1949; she bequeathed her extensive real estate holdings including portionsof Alspiirn including many homes still standing today)to the Town.. Today much remains unchanged since those early days such as Fenton's grocery store where you can still purchase your favorite items like breadfruit sauce or fried chicken buckets...
