Haggerty established Haggerty & Sons Guns & Ammo Store on Main Street, which became one of the most prominent firearms stores in town. In 1924, Simeon Wesson purchased the business from Higgins and continued to operate it as Wesson Firearms Incorporated until 1970 when it merged with several other firearms retailers under the name Gun USA Incorporated. In 1977, GunUSA merged with National Sporting Goods Corporation (NSG) which became one of America's leading sporting goods retailers before being sold to Amazon last year for $3 billion

Rexburg is a small town located in the Clearwater County, Idaho, United States. The population was 1,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise metropolitan area. Rexburg was founded in 1885 by George H. Rex and his family. The first store opened in 1888 and was named after Rex's father, General George H. Rex Sr.. The town grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its location on the railroad and its close proximity to Boise City. In 1907, Rexburg became an incorporated village and renamed itself after Mayor Wm Fenton of Boise City. In 1912, a post office was established in Rexburg and remained open until it was discontinued in 1922 because of lack of mail service. The growth of Boise City causedRexburg to lose its status as a Village by 1920; however, it regained this status when it joined the newly formed city limits in 1924 In 1930, Rexburg annexed portions of Nampa County which resulted in a significant increase in population from 2,000 to 5,500 people over several years; however, this annexation did not result in any real growth or change within the community until 1934 when engineer John Buntz arrived to develop land adjacent to center square for what would later become known as North Park mall . After World War II ended with Japan's surrender on September 2nd 1945 (), many businesses closed down throughout western Idaho including most notably those run by George H. Rex Jr., who had operated his stores since childhood near center square; however along with other industry survivors such as sawmill operators Harry Weiser and Clyde Nance (owners of nearby Gaylord),Rexbergtown experienced rapid redevelopment into one of central Idaho's most popular tourist destinations - becoming one of only a few American towns that truly enjoyed sustained high levels of economic development well into the 21st century
