In 1907, the American Arms Company was founded in Rexburg by entrepreneur George Witherspoon. American Arms became one of the leading firearms dealers in the area and sales offices were located throughout Idaho and Wyoming. The company continued to operate until it closed its doors in 1966. American Arms is credited with helping to createRexburg as a gun-owning community. Through its influence, American Arms also helped toestablishRexburg as a center for firearm manufacturing and research. From 1923 until 1969, America’s Armament Corporation manufactured handguns at their plant on East Main Street. Several famous firearms manufacturers have been based here including Colt Firearms Inc., Ruger Firearms Manufacturing Co., Winchester Repeating Arms Company and Smith & Wesson USA Inc.. Today there are still several small businesses that produce firearms in Rexburg including Gunsmiths binding Knife Shop (now GunsmithsKnives), Rifle & Shotgun Range (now The Range), Ammunition Store #2 (Now AmmoLand) and Lumberyard/Gunshop (now Bob’s Custom Armory).

This made it difficult for them to cook food or sleep because they lacked any protection against fire. When World War 2 started in 1939, all armies began wearing body armor including firearms. This made it much easier for soldiers to cook food or sleep because they didn’t have to worry about being caught without their weapon. However, this also made it much harder for them to move around since they couldn’t reach their arms and legs properly with their weapons strapped at their side. Since then, there has been a gradual shift away from full body armor towards lighter gear that can be worn under clothing. This is partly due to the increased risk of gunshots hitting skin rather than metal objects outside of combat situations which makes ammunition more dangerous and expensive; however, also because lightweight gear is easier and faster Toitemsize into place while fighting an enemy) .

By the late 1970s, however,Rexburg had begun to experience significant decline; it lost much of its economic significance and fell behind both Boise and other larger American cities on key social indicators such as employment rates and crime rates. However, over recent decades there have been positive developments at Rexberg: The city has seen increasing development around its core business districts (the downtown area and Blue Mountain), new housing projects have been built along Lake Street near State Street (the "new" district), and changes have been made to support local commerce within the mayor-controlled City Council system. These advances suggest that Rexberg may soon enjoy another level of success both domestically and internationally following previous successes including being named one of America's fastest-growing cities by Forbes in 2000; being awarded first place among all U.S., Canadian provinces/territories for "Best Place To Work"; being selected by Forbes again in 2006 as one of America's "Most Livable Cities";[1]and receiving accolades from various professional organizations such as The Brookings Institution[2]
The Rexburg, Idaho Manufacturing Company was founded in 1909 by George W. Fenton and his brother-in-law, J.C. Edwards. The company manufactured agricultural machinery, including tractors, combines, and feeders. The company also produced lumber and other materials for the construction industry. In 1916, the company became part of the International Harvester Corporation. In 1951, the company merged with the Ames Machine Company to form Ames Incorporated.
