Post Falls, ID is a town in Butte County, Idaho, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. Post Falls is part of the Boise metropolitan area. The first Post Falls was built in 1887 by James W. Post and his family as a logging camp on the White River. In 1907, Post and his brother-in-law George Atherton founded the city of Boise to be their leading business center on the Snake River Plain. The city grew rapidly due to its accessibility by railroad and its location near major water supplies that made it an important agricultural center during the late 1800s and early 1900s. By 1932, Post had sold all but a small portion of his land within the city limits to become what is now known as Midtown Post Falls. In 1949, when American Bridge Company merged with Northern Pacific Railroad to form Amtrak, Midtown Post Falls became one of Amtrak's original stations along with nearby Coeur d'Alene and Pocatello. Amtrak continued serving these stations until 1999 when they were transferred to Coeur d'Alene National Park for operations as part of the Southern Regional Service (SRS). The last train from Pocatello Station arriving in Coeur d'Alene ran on December 14th 1998; Amtrak discontinued passenger service at Pocatello Station on January 1st 1999 effective from that date. Post Falls has experienced many changes over time; due to this it has also been called "the experimental town". One change which has recently taken place is that a new downtown development called Westside has replaced much older core areas around Main Street and State Street which have seen little or no regeneration since they were abandoned in 2003 following Oso Creek flooding which destroyed much of downtown infrastructure including streetscapes and most storefronts causing significant economic damage plus loss of non-residential property tax revenue for years afterwards Additionally there have been many high rise buildings erected throughout Downtown Overlook Mall Complexes such as Hilton Garden Inn & Suites - post falls 4 Seasons hotel located adjacent To Renaissance Place mallPhase 2 redevelopment project ongoing with plans for additional high rises yet To name only a few...

However, during World War II Post Falls experienced significant destruction due to bombing raids by American forces. As a result of the bombings, many residents left Post Falls for other cities in Idaho and Washington state. Today, Post Falls is a tiny community with only about 150 residents.
Post Falls became a city in 1907, after the completion of the Post Falls Railroad. The city was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who was killed in battle at the Battle of Little Bighorn in November 1876.
