By 1905, when it had grown to over 2,000 residents and included a schoolhouse and water tower on Main Street (later renamed Second Avenue), Pocatello had become one of America's most important cities. In 1907–1908, during World War I effort to break up Russia into warring republics within America proper (), Pocatello played a significant role by providing food and munitions for American forces fighting in Europe (). During World War II (), which began on September 6th 1942 () after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor (), both Japanese Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) forces and American military forces conducted raids into Androscoggin County () throughout early 1945(). After days of bombardment from both air force aircraft and naval vessels (), US Marines landed at Anaconda Army Air Field (now Camp Pendleton) on October 17th 1945 (). Thanks largely to local citizens who volunteered their time cooking meals for troops ashore during that time period (), more than 7600 men were eventually fed and housed ashore during what is now known as "the Pacific War". Pocatello experienced some devastating fires in 1951–1952 which destroyed many buildings including the original water tower; however those flames also left much evidence behind such as plaques recognizing certain historical events or individual contributions (). A major fire occurred on December 16th 1973 which destroyed most of downtown but again left behind evidence such as plaques recognizing various accomplishments or individuals involved (). However this fire also resulted in extensive damage to many commercial buildings across downtown so even today not all structures have been rebuilt completely (); some have been reconstructed but are missing their original contents. In recent years there has been an increase in development around downtown with new businesses popping up everywhere from small cafes to high end restaurants (). Downtown remains vibrant with locals AND tourists coming together each day to enjoy everything that Pocatello has to offer!

In addition to DowntownFPocatello there are several other neighborhoods located throughout the city that offer unique experiences not available or easy access from Downtown: North End for nightlife/clubs/bars along First Avenue Northwest; South End for restaurants/cafés along Second Avenue Southeast; East Side which is home to some high-end shops near Interstate 5 on Dayton Boulevard between State Street and Easton Road; West Side with more modestly priced retail options closer to Interstate 5 near State Street
