This innovation led to transportation through railways that would not have been possible without reliable artillery support! In 1865 John Browning developed his .45 caliber revolver based on his earlier work on rifles for use by law enforcement officers etc., thus beginning the modern arms industry!

Pocatello is a small city in south-central Idaho, United States. The population was 7,780 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pocatello County and part of the Boise metropolitan area. Pocatello was founded in 1884 by David Lummell and named for Private John C. Pocatello, an American Civil War veteran who had served as a scout for Union forces. The first Hotel in Pocatello was built on East Main Street in 1886 by George Aiken and his wife Eliza J. Wagers. In 1914, John Pyle opened the first motel in what is now known as the Pyle Building on South First Street. In 1916, Harry Hargrave opened the first grocery store in town which became one of the most popular places to shop in town until it closed its doors in 1984. In 1925, Ethel Maynard began operating her first restaurant called The Meadows at 202 North Third Street which became one of the most popular restaurants in town until it closed its doors in 1984 too also. In 1927, Millard Fillmore became Mayor of Pocatello after serving two terms as a member of Idaho's State Senate representing District 9 from 1928 through 1932 and 1933 through 1938; he then served one term (1939–1941) as Mayor before being elected to Congress from District 2 (the southern portion of Boise). He represented Idaho's 3rd Congressional District from 1941 until his death at age 83 years old on November 6th, 1977; vacancy caused by his death caused Representative Don Young to be elected Vice President instead and Fillmore's son Jay Fillmore took over his father's congressional seat when Young resigned that year to become Governor of Alaska due to term limits set forth by then-Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). Jay Fillmore continued serving through January 3rd 1978 when he announced he would not seek re-election because he wanted time to run for President against incumbent Jimmy Carter who had been elected with more than 60% support! At age 82 years old Jay Fillmore passed away on December 15th, 1981 just days shy of completing three full terms as Congressman representing District 2 (the southern portion of Boise). fillmore Elementary School located downtown near where MillardFillmore Elementary School used to stand will forever remember him!
Pocatello was founded by John A. Macdonald in 1881, and grew rapidly as a small town on the banks of the Snake River. Pocatello became an important center for trade and commerce, and its location made it a natural place to grow food. In 1907, Pocatello hosted the first international fair in Idaho, which attracted attention from around the world. The fair helped to promote economic development in Pocatello, and led to the creation of several local businesses. In 1949, Pocatello became an incorporated city, and continues to grow into a major educational and cultural center in Idaho.
