As part of his New Deal program he purchased large tracts of rural property surrounding Nampa from various ranchers so as to provide cheap labor for infrastructure projects such as irrigation and road construction during World War II while also creating jobs through education programs and housing construction initiatives such as WPA/EDA (Works Progress Administration/Era 21 Housing Authority). In 1952 local high school students founded Northern High School which still offers full ride academic scholarships today

Nampa was founded on November 10, 1907 by Lewis and Clark Expedition leader Meriwether Lewis and his party as a station on the Snake River between today's Nampa and Meridian City. The first store in Nampa was built on North Main Street in 1907. Nampa has experienced many changes over the years including becoming an agricultural center in the early 1800s; being a small town during World War II; becoming a major metropolitan area with its current population size during the late 1960s through 2000s; experiencing growth due to oil production beginning in 2004 which has led to increased development around the city limits; and most recently becoming an increasingly urbanized area with increasing industrial and commercial development since 2010. The history of Nampa begins with Lewis and Clark Expedition leader Meriwether Lewis who founded it as a station on Snake River between today's Nampa and Meridian City on November 10, 1907. At that time, it was one of only two stations along that river for wagon trains traveling westward from Fort Hall (now Boise). It served as a supply stop for travelers before they reached their destination - Oregon Territory - some 350 miles away. As more people traveled westward following roads developed by pioneers such as George Logans Mormon Battalion explorer John Czaplicka in 1847-48, demand for goods grew so much that stations like Nampa became necessary for wagons carrying goods upriver from points east of Boise to points west of Fort Hall (now Boise). In 1865 there were just six stores operating along Snake River north of present day Nampa when surveyors discovered oil wells at what is now known as Moraine Creek south of today’s town square. The discovery led to rapid growth within eastern Clearwater County becauseoil could be found without having to go downriver all the way to Portland or Seattle where refining took place. By 1870 there were over forty businesses active along both banks of Snake River north of present day Nampasite while Wells Fargo had opened its first office downtown near Third Avenue and Marshall Streets in 1903! In 1887, four years after loggers discovered oil fields offshore at Anaconda Bay off Kodiak Island, businessmen Wm Fenton & Co., Jno Pemberton & Co., Mr Haggerty organized what would become known as “The Alaska Company” which leased land east side of Salmon Arm about twelve miles below present day South Fork Bridgeport Gulch from Chief Joseph Dunlap Sr.. This lease provided opportunity for entrepreneur Wm Fenton Jr., founder father of Wm Fenton Companies – now bankrupted but still remembered locally –to drill into coal seams underlying fish ponds northeast of Anaconda Bay.. With these discoveries came new traffic demands on the upper Snake River while entrepreneurs began developing other business ventures such as lumbering operations downstream then upstream at Enumclaw Ferry Landing where barges unloaded logs onto wharfboats before continued transport downriver by canal boat across Whitefish Lake bound for marketplaces outside Spokane or Tacoma .. Coal mining also boomed during this time thanks to advances made possible by new technology such as explosives used in hydraulic fracturing (fracking) which skyrocketed prices resulting in large profits for companies like Patriot Coal Corporation who leased rights from federal officials under terms set forth by President Franklin D Roosevelt New Deal Coalition administrations.. With growing industry came corresponding increases not onlyin housing stock but also shops, restaurants etc…that dot central Business District neighborhoods today dating back to1910 when Hotel Idaho opened doors adjacent Armory Square../ / / /Three blocks northwest corner First Avenue NW lives Mrs Lillie Biddle Judd whose family operated A&P grocery store at 5th Avenue NW corner Masonic Temple until 2003 when it sold to Walmart./ / In 1910 there were ten stores open along both banksofthe Snake Rivers north otpresentday Nampasite while Wells Fargo had opened its first office downtown near Third Avenueand Marshall Streets./ /Lumbering became very important during this time with Proctor & Gamble opening their mill herenear Fourth Street/ Andreevich Brothers started producing ice cream hereearly 1920s followed later by Safeway/Today’s Jewel-Osco operates original Safeway location off I-5 near exit 113A serviced primarily by FedEx Ground/. Mining activity dwindled following world war II until 1949 when president Harry S Truman signed Executive Order 13414 creating Umatilla Range National Forest covering portionsof southeasternIdaho/. That same year saw completionof Interstate 90 linking Eastern Washington state with Central Idaho via pavement formerly openonlyTo motoristsOn gravel Roads leading From Eagle Butte To Twin Falls .
