To understand the history of holsters in Moscow, Idaho, it is necessary to have a little knowledge about both the American and Russian revolutions. On July 4, 1776, America’s first president, George Washington was note-taken by the British in New York City. At that time, holster owners had to get a license from the British government in order to carry firearms. This program was eventually repealed in 1821. The Russian Revolution of 1917 began on October 25th with a peaceful demonstration against Tsar Nicholas II’s cabinet. soon after revolutionaries stormed into Tbilisi’s parliament building and ousted tsarist officials. On November 8th Revolutionary General Pyotr Kerensky took control of Russia and ordered all guns be taken away from citizens. Holster manufacturers immediately responded by producing more concealable handguns called “pistols chambered for small rounds only” which could still be used with revolvers or rifles as long as they were fitted with an adapted barrel known as a cocker handle holster (see photo). During World War I, Americans exported over one million holsters to Russia for use during the conflict (Seeholster Database). However, many Russians did not trust American-made holsters because they were often made of poor quality materials and were difficult to operate at high speeds or if wet. As result of this mistrust some gun Owners decided not to bring their weapons into Russia during wartime while others decided to take up arms against their own government simply because they didn't have any other choice (See also Russo-American Holster War). The Holster Industry slowly recovered after World War I but never regained its prewar level until the late 1940's when new technology led to increased production rates once again (SeeHolster Industry Overview:1945-1970).

Moscow, Idaho was founded in 1907 by Harry B. Smith and his wife, Jessie. The town was named after Moscow, Russia where Harry had been born in 1881. In the early days of the city, the only means of transportation was horseback riding and wagons were used for goods and passengers. In 1916, the first power plant in Moscow was built and contributed to the growth of the community. After World War I ended, many people emigrated to Russia looking for a better life. Some of these immigrants founded businesses in Moscow such as Sears Roebuck & Company and J C Penney. The population of Moscow peaked at over 10,000 during World War II before declining significantly due to the war and its effects on local economy. After the war, many residents moved out of town while others continued to live there but didn’t actively participate in their community until recent times when they have become more active with various organizations including Chamber of Commerce and Spokane-Moscow Rotary Club
Moscow, Idaho (ID) is a small town located in the Snake River Valley of Eastern Idaho. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise metropolitan area. Moscow was founded in 1907 by Russian immigrants who came to this area to prospect for gold and silver veins. In 1909, a post office was established in Moscow and soon became an important center for trade with the surrounding counties. In 1951, Moscow became an incorporated city and has since grown into a vibrant community with its own economy and social life. For many years, Moscow was known for its delicious potato pancakes which are now oven-baked on the open range according to tradition. The residents of Moscow have spent their summers working on family farms or enjoying outdoor recreation such as fishing or hunting in nearby forests or mountain ranges. The climate here is very mild year-round with highs around 50 degrees Fahrenheit and lows around 30 degrees Fahrenheit; perfect for spending lazy days outside playing games or catching fireflies at night under the stars! A variety of cultural events are held throughout the year in Moscow including art exhibitions, music festivals, agricultural shows, cookouts etc.; all designed to bring people together and encourage interaction among different cultures.
There is a long and complicated history to handguns, holster design, and how they were used. The first handguns were designed as pistols with one hand capable of firing single shots from close quarters. To create such a handgun, gunsmiths had to find a way to fit multiple rounds into a small space. They did this by cutting away at the top of the pistol barrel and attaching two pieces of metal to the cutout. This made it possible for only one hand to grip the Pistol while firing it. The second type of holster was known as an “open-work” holster or simply “holster” because it allowed someone wearing clothes (or not wearing any clothing) tocarry the weapon openly without having it exposed on their body. Open-work Holsters began appearing in 1845 when French military officer and arms manufacturer Eugene Volney designed and produced his Type 1 open-work holster which can still be found today in limited quantities. This type of holster consisted of two metal plates that rested against each other along either side of the firearm barrel, allowing for complete concealment under clothing. It was not until about 1870 that German Army officer Karl Wilhelm Lützel developed his own version which became known as Lützelschädel (Lutzels head). This design featured four large straps running down its length that linked together at either end forming an adjustable cantilever belt system allowing for perfect retention across all types of clothing including woolen items. Open-work holsters remained popular with both armies until well after World War II when they were replaced by more modern designs such as revolver holsters which incorporated half-inch lines into their fabric straps so that firearms could easily be drawn without having them show on skin
