The Meridian area has had a presence in the agricultural industry for over 100 years. The first recorded purchase of land in the Meridian area was in 1916. By 1920, there were 12 grain elevators and 5 sawmills in the town of Meridian. In 1924, the City of Boise purchased all of the land within 2 miles of downtown from Gold Rush Mining Company. This allowed for development to take place around what is now known as Boise Boulevard. In 1941, Idaho Statehood was granted to the state of Idaho and Justus Flamingo became the first governor of Idaho after being elected on November 3rd with a mandate to end discrimination against women and other minority groups. Flamingo's efforts led to more businesses opening up throughout Northwest Idaho and increased trade between Boise and Meridian. In 1947, construction began on what is now known as Flamingo Road which would connect Downtown Boise with Meridian. The road was named after Justus Flammable who spearheaded this project along with his wife Nellie Flamingo-Flammable. In 1965, when Interstate 15 was built through central Idaho, one side connected to it via Jameson Drive while another connected to it via I-84 near Pocatello. When I-15 was widened into its current configuration in 1984, Jameson Drive became an interchange connecting both I-15 and I-84 which at that time also served as a bypass for Pocatello city limits which ran directly behind downtown (now Mountain View). Due to this interchange being located so close to downtown core, truck traffic backed up onto Jameson Drive creating significant delays for commuters/ shoppers trying to reach their destinations outside of downtown during peak hours. In 2002, following completion of IDOT's $1 billion widenings project within Central Idaho including Project Leadville – which included new lanes for trucks entering/exitringing Central Valley – Jameson Drive became an important access corridor linking both projects; allowing faster flow thru Powell Street without havingto back up onto the street once inside each project boundaries! Since then, many restaurants have opened up along Jameson Drive giving residents more choices when dining out whether they're driving or riding their bike!

Despite its short commute to Boise – just over an hour – Meridian has a high quality of life index due to its close proximity to forests, rivers, lakes, schools and other public services. And while some residents may find their lifestyle too quiet for their liking (the nearest city is only 15 miles away), overall they pretty much share one another's activities without any major differences aside from ZIP code boundaries.

It was named after Meridian City, Michigan which was then the county seat of Washburn County. Indian Wars fought nearby made it difficult to build up the town so it remained until 1897 when gold was discovered near the current site of Meridian. This led to rush for the land and development began that included building of a courthouse and jail as well as other businesses such as an opera house and movie theater which opened in 1903. The original downtown core remains today with several blocks remaining from its heyday including many contributing buildings from what was once one of America's most important cities before it went through significant stage changes during prohibition and World War II
Meridian is located in the eastern Idaho Panhandle and was founded by pioneers on December 10, 1889. The town site was platted by John C. Fremont and his son-in-law, George A. Smith, who named it after a bend in the Snake River. The first store opened in 1892 and the first post office was established in 1893. According to local legend, when Meridian became a town, everyone had to wear ties because no one could afford them.
