In 1912 she gave $10 to help start the town hall/city hall which still stands today altho used for storage now In 1959 when the US military closed down Fort Lewis Island it sent many people living near fort into what would become known as "the island", most notably Lewiston where many homes were built around 1962 when the main shopping center opened called "DowntownLewiston". Today downtownLewiston is home to galleries, restaurants etc.; while much of what used to be DowntownLewiston now consists of warehouses converted into apartments/units
