In the early 1800s, Kuna, Idaho was a land of "gun sources." The town was founded in 1881 by farmers who came to the area to find new grazing lands. One of the first businesses in town was a gunsmith. The Gunsmith's Shop was built on the old post office square and services all of eastern Idaho. The first gun ever made in Kuna was an eight-shot revolver designed by John Browning. It was made in 1892 and is still being used today. Over time, other firearms were created including shotguns, rifles, pistols and even cannons! Today, Kuna is home to some of the most popular gun retailers in the country. Kuna is a small town in Idaho, United States. The population was 905 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pocatello–Horseback Valley Micropolitan Statistical Area. Kuna's nickname is "The Nickel Mines." The first mention of a community called Kuna was in 1871 when Charles Goodyear established a mine there. In 1885, George Aitken built an sawmill and grist mill on the east side of the river that flows through town. The mills produced flour, meal,logs and other commodities for local markets. In 1902, Russian-American entrepreneur Antonov bought land in what are now Kuna andMoscow Mills from Aitken's widow. He started to build a large steel mill on his new property which included a village named after him - Antonov Village (now known as Stonington). Antonov also founded the Kuna Savings Bank which became one of the largest banks in Idaho before he died in 1927. In 1951, Dwight Eisenhower got married at Fort Hall Battlefield where he had been born three years earlier to Mary Ella Eisenhower and John F Kennedy. On July 16th of that year, Kuna held its first municipal election ever with thirty-six voting citizens present including six women who were registered to vote but did not attend because they were too young or old at the time. One vote wasn't enough so all six women again took to their homes rather than participate in what would be their last election until 1973 when they cast ballots as adults for city councilors positions even though they still lived within five miles of their homes! In 1952, GEICO moved its corporate headquarters from Flint Michigan to Pocatello after purchasing Jiffy Lube Oil Company’s assets there four years earlier following Jiffy’s acquisition by GEICO parent company General Electric Corporation (GEICO). At its peak during World War II GEICO employed over 100 people here serving as truck drivers and mechanics; however today only about 15 employees remain at our corporate Headquarters across multiple sites throughout America! On September 30th 1969 DEWALT Incorporated opened an office located adjacent to Main Street Business Center south of I-90 just north of exit 7 off I-90 opposite US Post Office
Kuna was founded in 1907 by John and Anna Weiser. The town was named after the Kuna River, which flows through the town. The Weisers were farmers who moved to the area from Idaho City, Idaho. In 1912, they opened a small grocery store and built a house on what is now Main Street. They continued to operate their business until 1959. In that year, they sold their business and moved to Boise, Idaho.
