Idaho Falls, Idaho is a city located in southcentral Idaho. The population was 17,898 at the 2010 census and it is the seat of Keziah, ID. Fremont, founded it in 1881 as a small mining community known as "Fremontville". In 1898, when Idaho became a state and Fremontville became its capital city, he removed the name to Idaho Falls because there was no other place with that name in central Idaho. The Town ofIDahoFalls was incorporated on February 23, 1907. The first Mayor of Idaho Falls was James A. Weirauch who served from 1909-1911 and from 1913-1915; he also served as mayor pro tem for one year prior to his election to that office by an unanimous vote of townspeople. Prior to incorporation, Burnside Dam had been built providing power for local mills while also providing irrigation water for agriculture in what is now east downtown Boise County including present day downtown ID and much of south central Canyon County including Jerome City which is located just north of Interstate 95 between Boise and canyon county) On December 1st 1903 John C. Fremont married Narcissa Merrill at St George’s Episcopal Church in Boise City while staying at Hampton Inn & Casino across Main Street from today’s State Capitol Building which then housed both state government meetings as well as receptions for dignitaries visiting Boise during this time frame She was born October 20th 1884 in Newcastle upon Tyne England (then partof Scotland)to Norwegian parentsGunnar Nilsen (1857-1938)and Mette Kirstine Dahl (1859-1920). They had two children: John Clarence Fremont born November 5th 1905(age 7 years old)and Helena Louise Fremont born December 10th 1907(age 11 years old). While living at Hampton Inn & Casino they were joined by their second wife Daisy Baird who arrived on January 8th 1910 after being deported from her home country USA on September 15th 1908 via ship from Mexico together with her father Frank Baird (1863-1945), brother Augustus Baird (1865-1914), sister Jessie Baird MacLeod (1867-1945) all age 16 or younger In 1911 they moved into their own house which later became their official residence/city hall before moving back into their original house when they decided to move out permanently effective June 30th 1938 due to numerous fire hazards resultant from mining activities adjacent to their property In 1951 they sold their house but continue residing there until moving out permanently again effective May 14th 1957 . On December 3rd 1932 they married secondly Cora Jane Hagenbeck who was born November 12th 1902 in Coeur d'Alene , ID daughter of Gustavus Elias Hagenbeck II Sr.(1858 - 1923)[1] she died August 9TH 1984 aged 85 years[2] Mr & Mrs Fremont had four children: Kenneth Everett Fremont Jr., Janet Lynn Fremont,[3], Cynthia Sue Frantzis[4], Kenneth Everett Frantzis III
The first settlers in what is now Idaho Falls, Idaho arrived in 1883. The town was named after the waterfall, which falls in the town. The name may have been chosen because of the similarity of both words to "fales" (a type of cascading water droplet).
