ATF regulations now require any lowering done on Service/ Tactical Rifles must be accompanied by an ATF approved muzzle device(MILITARY SPECIFIC). Finally in 2010 BATFE announced plans to regulate all assault weapons including those designed specifically for military use under Title 14 U.S Code § 923(a)(1)(B) which will go into effect on July 1st 2012
