When the Garden City Manufacturing Company was founded in 1915, it was the only company of its kind in the area. The company manufactured garden equipment and supplies for local farmers and homeowners. In 1935, the company became known as ABC Corporation when it merged with other companies to form ABC Enterprises. In 1947, ABC Enterprises was renamed Garden City Manufacturing Company Ltd. The company continued manufacturing garden equipment until 1984, when it closed its doors permanently. over 2,500 employees were employed at Garden City Manufacturing Company Ltd. during its lifespan; many of these individuals went on to join other prominent companies in their field. In 1984, Garden City Manufacturing Company Ltd. ceased operations completely and all of its products were sold off to various distributors throughout Western Canada and North America. There are a few items still remaining from this period such as some metal tools used by production workers and a few machine parts that remain unused today but can be toured at any time by visiting the original factory locations in Boise and Garden City, Idaho!

Garden City is a city in Idaho, United States. The population was 7,451 at the 2010 census. Garden City is the county seat of Custer County. Garden City is located on the Snake River and it is about 106 miles (171 km) northeast of Boise, the state's largest city. The town of Garden City was founded by pioneers in 1887 as a small farming community along the Snake River. The first store was built on Main Street in 1889 and it served as the nucleus for what would become Garden City as a commercial center. In 1907, when Idaho became a state, Garden City became its capital and served as its only incorporated municipality until 1959. During World War II, much of western Custer County was combined with neighboring Butte County to form Nampa District No. 5 in order to support military production centers for munitions manufacturing and other war-related activity. As part of this effort, Garden City developed into one of Nampa's most important economic nodes during wartime years due to its close proximity to several key production sites and its access to transportation and resources essential for war production. Following World War II, local businesses began to decline as demand for goods generated by the allied victory dwindled; however, new companies began popping up throughout nearby Butte and Douglas counties in an attempt to maintain product leadership during peacetime economies which had changed significantly since 1945. During this time period, garden cities such as GardenCity were often established around these newly resurgent communities in order create dense concentrations of jobs near major arteries such as Interstate 10 or I-15 while still being able to enjoy ample rural acreage outside of town limits without feeling crowded or isolated from larger metropolitan areas like Boise or Pocatello

Garden City is a city in Idaho. It was founded by Mormons in 1907 and became an independent city in 1959. Garden City is located on the banks of the Snake River, about 70 miles (113 km) northeast of Boise. The population was 7,439 at the 2010 census. The Mormon settlers who founded Garden City were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). They had emigrated from Great Britain in 1847 and arrived in Oregon Territory where they built a settlement called Harmony. On July 24, 1907, Brigham Young appointed George Smith to be the first mayor of Garden City, making it one of two cities within the LDS Church's territory at that time. When Utah was admitted to the United States as a state on November 6, 1912, Garden City became one of its official residents. In 1959, after years of debate and lobbied by Boise Mayor Harry Sorensen and others, Garden CityBecame an IndependentCity under its own Rules and Governance Code which still applies today In 1965 when Valley County was created from parts of Ada County and part of Canyon County due to population growth within those counties; GardenCity remained an IndependentCity until it merged with ValleyCounty on January 1st 1970 Finally on December 3rd 2009 when all but 2 outlying unincorporated areas within Valley County were consolidated intothe newcity creating what is now known as "GardenCity Idaho"
Garden City was founded on October 6, 1907 by J.C. Haskell and his wife Lillian in an area of now-defunct farmsteads near the present day town of Boise. The original town site was located along what is now US Route 83 and the Snake River. The first post office in Garden City was established on November 14, 1907. The name of the first mayor of Garden City was George Wessels, who served from 1908 to 1912. In 1917, Garden City became part of the newly created Ada County, Idaho Territory. In 1923, Ada County merged with Wasilla County to form Umatilla County. In 1959, Umatilla County disbanded and Garden City became a privately owned town again within Ada County limits. On October 6, 1957, Garden City voters approved a resolution to become an incorporated city once again within Ada County limits after years of deliberations between the city government and its citizens. On January 1st 1958, garden city became an incorporated city under the laws of Ada County with a population of about 60 people including 20 residents who lived in annexes adjacent to the corporate boundaries - giving rise to what is today known as "Annex Village".
