Eagle, Idaho is a small town in the Snake River Valley of southwestern Idaho. The population was 1,970 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Salmon River east of Pocatello and south of Hayden. The town was founded in 1909 by John A. Waddell and named after Eagle Point on the Boise River. Waddell had been an employee of the Forest Service when he came to Eagle in 1907 to help develop a range for hunting deer that included what is now downtown Eagle. In 1912, he became mayor and first official city clerk of Eagle. He also served as member of the Idaho state senate from 1916 until his death in 1932. Eagle's early years were difficult due to prohibitionism in much of America at that time; however, it prospered under prohibitionist leadership due to its location and access to minerals including oil shale which gave the town an edge over other towns while they awaited implementation of national prohibition laws (which would come later). In 1917, Mayor Waddell convinced Congress to pass legislation legalizing liquor sales within limits set by state law rather than waiting for federal Prohibition to take effect which would have effectively destroyed much business activity in Eagle – but did not happen because then-President Woodrow Wilson opposed any form alcohol control within United States borders without effective local regulation/enforcement. In 1922, President Warren G Harding made it illegal for citizens over 21 years old (or those employed by licensed breweries) to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages without a chaperone; this action helped spur development around downtown Eagle with more businesses opening up including several restaurants soon afterwards catering specifically towards drinkers age 21+. During World War II, eagle became one of four areas along US west coast where production took place related directly thereto; this was due largely to mining operations conducted nearby such as Wheat Ridge Mines operated by BHP Billiton Company during that war decade providing both defense manufacturing and civilian supplies needed for American troops stationed abroad * During these years many talented individuals including notable engineers/manufacturers developed new products/techniques associated with aluminum smelting technology etc.; some are still well known today such as Harry Fenton who invented high-strength galvanized wire fencing during WWII * Another prominent individual who developedduring these years was Nathan Bedford Forrest whose efforts resulted in creationof Boeing* Due mostlyto post-war reconstruction activities conducted by various agencies throughout western USA government involvement eventually ledto increasein jobs & economic stability resultant from continued growth

By 1978, however, local officials decided that incorporation would not increase economic development and withdrew from railroads; rather they developed an economy based on agriculture and ranching which has continued to this day. In 2000, Interstate 90 bridge over Clearwater Creek connecting Eagle to Moscow opened; this made east-west travel easier for mountain residents traveling into Idaho from Oregon or Washington state without having to go through Boise or Seattle. The city's economy has shifted increasingly towards healthcare services due to its location within easy reach of major metropolitan areas such as Boise and Spokane
