Eagle was founded in 1903 by two brothers - Dan and Harry Eagleson - as a store and shooting gallery. The original structure served as the company's headquarters until it was destroyed in an arson fire in 1959. In 1915, Eagle became home to one of America's first radio stations when WJZ (AM) started broadcasting from its transmitter atop a hill near the edge of town. In 1951, while stationed at Fort Perrin Army Base outside Boise, Iwo Jima veteran Major General Curtis LeMay offered to make Eagle part of his air force base if it would become an important training ground for USAF pilots during Operation Neptune's Spear. With that offer, Eagle became one of the most important military installations in North America for fighter pilots training on Iwo Jima and other islands in World War II. Many veterans from that time still live in or around Eagle today including Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Steve Ziegler who heads up operational flying operations forthe 6th Fighter Wing at Paxson Air Force Base which is located about 15 minutes away from Eagle

However, Asasin Valley National Monument was established nearby and designated as an Wildlife Refuge in 1929 making Eagle again a borough subject to county jurisdiction; however this rule did not continue throughout their time as boroughs since butte township ceased to exist following 1959 when it become part of Gardiner Borough. In 1932, during World War II (the Second World War), eagle air-dropped food supplies into Japan for military personnel then being used as slave labor on Iwo Jima during the Japanese invasion; these supplies are now known collectively as "The EAGLE Connection." Eagle is home to several notable institutions including: The Bagley School District Museum which houses artifacts from various schools within the district; The Eagleton Hotel which has been used for functions such as conventions and funerals dating back to 1926; Andrus Elementary School which has served students from grades K-8 since 1928; and finally The Eagleton Golf Course which opened in 1934
Eagle was founded in 1887 as a small town on the Snake River. In 1916, it became an incorporated city and in 1968, it amalgamated with the surrounding rural communities to form the current city of Eagle.
