Eagle is a small town in the Sawtooth Mountains of southwestern Idaho. It is located just outside the city limits of Boise, and it lies at an elevation of 4,848 feet (1,500 meters). The town had a population of only 1,500 in 2010. Eagle was founded by Brigham Young in 1871 as an agricultural community on the edge of what is now Boise. The first store there was opened in 1870. In 1907, Eagle became one of two towns to be incorporated within the new Boise City Limits. In 1942, when World War II began and Eagle was placed under martial law because of its location, all guns were confiscated and destroyed. The Gun Store killings occurred on October 21, 1959 when three men entered the Gun Store and killed four employees with shotguns before leaving. These shootings are generally considered to be the deadliest gun homicide in America until the Oklahoma City bombing on April 15th of that year which killed 168 people

Eagle is a town in Butte County, Idaho, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. Eagle is part of the Boise metropolitan area. The first settler in Eagle was George Harger and his family who arrived in 1868 from Ohio. They built a log cabin on the east side of town near what is now Black Diamond Hill. In 1871, they took possession of land east of the creek that forms today's main street and founded a new settlement called Grouse Creek which later became Eagle. In 1875,George Harger married Eliza Beard and together they homesteaded northeast of Grouse Creek on land that would later be known as Beaver Dam Park. From their home on Beaver Dam Park, George Harger and Eliza developed a successful general store which served both Eagle and surrounding towns for over seventy years until it closed in 1984. In 1907, eagle residents helped form the Butte County Republican Party which soon gained influence within local government. The BCP also purchased an old sawmill located just outside town which they used as their township office until it burned down in 1949. That same year also saw the opening of the first municipal building in Eagle when the then-new courthouse was erected on Main Street between Third Avenue and 4th Avenue North (now Beaver Dam Parkway). That building still stands today as one of downtown Eagle's most popular attractions with its beautiful Art Deco architecture! In 1951, ELPA partnered with other commercial partners to build what would become known as "the world’s largest cotton gin." With its large capacity it allowed for more efficient production than ever before allowing farmers to bring extra crops into market without having to leave their fields empty for weeks at a time! This innovative technology would eventually lead to ELPA becoming one of America’s leading cotton buyers during World War II! Eagle continued to thrive through some difficult times during the late 1800s including periods where silver prices plummeted and even prohibition led to some limited closure of businesses throughout Butte County due to difficulties obtaining licenses necessary for liquor sales! However despite these challenges small business owners were always able to find ways to keep things moving while ensuring quality product availability for their customers! Eager citizens often helped support these local businesses by gathering recyclable materials or recycling themselves so not only did these efforts help preserve our community but also left an impact upon future generations who may still visit us today!
