This area formerly produced cheese, eggs, flour, oilseed cotton and other agricultural products before being converted to industrial use with new production facilities built there since 2000. A number of large companies have their headquarters or main operations here including MeadWestvaco Inc., Nike Inc., Pinnacle Outdoors Inc., Caterpillar International Inc., Intel Corporation and others . Manufacturing activities are now declining but continue to contribute significantly to local employment levels; recent job growth has come from non-manufacturing positions such as retail sales and office work within downtown Eagleton Township while residential development continues along Ada River Valley Road where heavy industry once thrived The original buildings that comprise much of downtown Eagleton were built beginning in 1913 by local entrepreneurs Hapgood & Kappmeyer as stores/warehouses/cafeteria/theater complex known today as The Kresge Building which housed both grocery store operations plus various other businesses used by citizens living near Main Street including banking institutions like First National Bank (now Wells Fargo), Des Moines Banking Company (now Iowa Fed) and Girts Millinery Shop (now JCPenney). These structures remain largely unchanged except for some extensive rehabilitation work done on them between 1984-1991 which included replacement or enhancement of windowsills, door hinges etcetera
