Coeur Dalene is a small town in Idaho. It was founded in 1907 by the railroad company, the Northern Pacific Railroad. The town has a population of about 350 people. The first settlers in Coeur Dalene were the Stephens brothers, who arrived in 1907. Other early residents included J.F. Mooney and his family, Harry and Martha Reeves, Clarence Brown and his family, John Cook and his brother-in-law George Walford, Hiram Earle and his wife Alice (Harrison) Earle, Wm Hinecky and his son Geo., Mrs. Seward's baby daughter Emeline (now called Sarah), John Nichols with his bride Emma Nourse from Oregon Valley, Elisha Sargent with three children from a previous marriage to Julia Setterfield; all of whom came over on the Northern Pacific Railroad train which left Coeur Dalene at 5:00 A.M., on July 26th of that year. In 1915 there were 375 residents living in Coeur Dalene when it was incorporated as an unincorporated community by order of the secretary of state under Act No. 95 of 1911; this order being made to promote village life because “it had been more than thirty years since any organized business or agricultural interests had been operative here” In 1919 the population reached 466 with eighteen businesses including two grocery stores open for business And six post office buildings housing mail delivery In 1951 only 318 people lived in Coeur Dalene when it lost its municipal status but retains ZIP code 82002 In 1955 it became part of The City of Moscow through annexation by Moscow following Russian victory over Japan at World War II

The first white man to ever set foot on the land now known as Coeur Dalene, Idaho was Captain George Vancouver in 1819. The town of Coeur Dalene was founded by fur traders in 1825 and became a stop on the Pony Express. In 1847, Fort Boise was built here to protect the wagon trail that ran between California and Oregon. The fort served as a base of operations for both fur traders and soldiers during the Mexican-American War. It also served as a winter home for General Andrew Jackson during his campaign against Mexico. The fort was destroyed by fire in 1860, but it was rebuilt and named Fort Boise after General Boise who led the attack on Mexico City.
